Movie Site-Not Linking-Not Even To Illegal Content?

    say i have a site that i get ranked for the keyword phrase

    watch rush hour 3 for free online

    on my site i have a thumbnail of the movie that when the user clicks it it takes them to youtube. is this legal? i am not hosting or even linking to illegal content. i am just linking to youtubes homepage. so can i get in trouble for writing on my site: watch rush hour 3 for free online?

    It is not illegal at all. You do not have the movie on your servers and you are linking to youtube so it's youtube's problem not yours.

    No that's wrong. You are actively and knowingly promoting a copyright violation. That's not legal.

    i ll advise to check with your host , and one more thing you can link to any movies easily but dont link to any movie that s yet to be released or has been just released !!!!!!!

    Why do you say that. It's simply not true. It doesn't matter where it is hosted. As long as you link to a copyrighted item you are responsible. Advertising as "Watch movieX for free" makes it even worse.

    Facilitating copyright infringement is most definitely a crime. Could they take you down for linking to the YouTube homepage? Probably not -- no more than they could, if you'd said "Go to google and type this.." Then again, stranger things have happened.

    Providing links to other websites that promote breaking copyright laws is not illegal, nevermind linking to YouTube.
