Many Movie editing softwares are available all over the net. And it is a puzzle for the new beginner to choose that video software which will best serve his demand. I remember the time it took me to get the best video capturing software that will capture in the format I want with quality. In this case the software "I discovered" was Windvd creator 2. Now that I found a guide that tells you what the best free video editing software is. It also gives you a list of all the professional softwares now available on the market. But if your intention is to make good quality home videos or videos for the web then I would like to say that you don't have to use those very expensive video editting softwares. Instead the free video editing software will suit your need. And I recomend you take advantage of this Guide to Free Video Editing Software.
camtasia is the best IMO....it's easy to use and if you're into video marketing, it's a must have tool...
To be honest, the video editing programes bundled in OSX and Windows are fine for most things. It really depends on what you want to get out of the experience - eg, for a peak at what the industry uses download AVID express or some cheap version of Final cut. I can't remember if these are free now - but AVID express used to be. Both FCP and Avid are used across The USA and in Europe to make broadcast quality television and films - the lite versions are restricted on things like quantity of audio or video tracks but are pretty powerful tools, and worth getting you head around.
Im no professional in movie editing but like teidi said window's movie maker is good, if you get an up2 date version
Free video editing softwares are usually sufficient for home made movies. They usually have basic editing capability like cutting, adding basic transition, audio processing like stereo or mono and basic filters. And this feature is quite sufficient for home movies. But when you come to professional video editing, the software have professional features and they are quite expensive. They also have plugins softwares that will give them even more ability. They range from a couple of hundreds to thousand dollars. But of all the video editing softwares I tried I found ulead ( now purchased by corel) the best easy to use yet poerful application. I tried almost all of their video and photo solution, no other software comes closer to their product.
Sony Vegas, Cinema 3D, Adobe <-- these are really good! definitely recommend them. Just find the tutorials in youtube for using it
