I have DVD quality .mov files from my digital camera. However, not all my windows DVD creation software allows .mov files. What is the best format to convert this to such as wmv, avi, mpg, mpeg, or what.. I want to make sure it keeps the HD quality. What's a good free convertor to use, does any exist?
You might want to try this one: http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html NCH has some great converting tools. As for what format to convert to, it doesn't really matter, it's up to you! I usually got with avi.
will it keep it's DVD / HD quality if I convert to AVI? I heard mpg or mpeg was the was the way go go? I plan on burning these to DVD, that's why I ask.
Try Total Video Converter, it works pretty well will little quality difference, but it provides different file format conversions.
Generally, MPEG4 (Quicktime) is the best format to deal in. Of course, that's just my personal opinion and others may see things differently! All of my video-creation efforts are in MPEG - it's easy to use, very high quality, and every Windows and mac user can get a free player. Oh yeah ... they work nicely on YouTube! Best, --JR
You may try SUPER, it's a free video converter that can convert videos to AVI, Or use the avs video converter to convert mov to avi, wmv for further application. It works for me great
I'd like to recommend the Format Factory, it's a free video converter that can convert mov video. And I think AVI video format is a good choice.
For free you have, Handbrake does this easily If you want to pay there is, I advice you Xilisoft Video Converter, it works pretty well. If you are interested in it, here is a guide about how to download and use it http://www.flash-video-soft.com/xilisoft-video-converter
I think you can convert your video to MP4 HD video and then burn into DVD disc. If you need a free software, you can try to use Leawo free MP4 Converter. it's totally free without time limited and watermark. I used it before, but I need the video edit function, so I just updated it to the pro version. You can download the free version in here: http://www.leawo.com/video-converter/free-mp4converter.html
That would be easy with a MOV video converter. And i think this one i used for long may be the one you need.
I usually use format factory to convert videos, just because it is free, so you can also have it a try. And I find ruby2011 say , so I have gone to have that covnerter a try actually, however, that is good to use, but not free.
