My favorite motivational quotation is one that finds its place in my signature at most forums I frequent, and it is by the infamous American statesman, Benjamin Franklin:

Now, another one by Ralph Waldo Emerson*, this one I recall because of what you said about writing your own story:

Heh, sorry to chime in yet again to say, "You remind me of a quotation with similar meaning," but as an avid collector of quotations, I can't help but recall one for every occasion:

“...kindness is seldom wasted...”— Aesop's Fables, p. 79 (Signet Classic, 1992).

There are variations of that quotation. My favorite one is "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." Of course, the first one is superior in brevity.
