I don't post topics much - so bear with me. Recently I have noticed I have a lack of motivation when I do things - even if it is quite a bit of money involved. I get spurts of absolute manic desire - and then lethargy. I also seem to burn out relatively quickly on things... So what are your tricks to avoiding a burnout and crash - or feeling lazy? I see many folks here who are absolutely driven and motivated - and even I get to that point, however after I hit that it begins to crumble away and at the end I just feel like saying "Ah the hell with this ----". I've done a few things, from rearranging the way I work to what I eat to even drinking copious amounts of caffeine - my brain still wanders off and has many ideas... but doesn't focus on what needs to be done. I'm looking for more serious answers as to what helps, not the standard responses in a can (i.e. don't visit PR!111). PR helps me because I can unwind a bit and then continue on, however... either I need an IV with caffeine or something stronger. it's not so much the motivation to do - but the motivation to stay focused. No, I do not have ADHD or ADD... or other Acronyms. I'll finish babbling on, and just see what spikes up.
i create motivation from my wishes, jus tell urself if u do not finish the current job u wont get what u want.
I look at things I want (mansion, certain cars, vacation homes, new electronic equipments, etc). When I realize that I don't have it, it provides a bit of a motivational boost.
Aye, I do that too, but in the middle of the job I lose focus and have frequent burnouts... like a car you run too fast and the engine has to cool off.
It helps to work around other people. It helps to bounce ideas off of other people, joke around, ask questions, etc. You don't even have to be working on the same thing, it just helps not being isolated. Don't get me wrong, I love to work alone, but I personally feel that I burn out faster flying solo. You could always go to a local coffee shop or sit in a park... something like that.
I find daily motivation in: • trying to be a blessing to my wife. • expressing love to (and receiving it from) my four adult children. • attempting to fulfill the Scripture "that God in all things may be glorified". These factors put meaning and energy into my approach to each day.
Do you feel burned out with the rest of your day or is it when your sitting and typing away? Maybe your body is telling you that it would like to try something new (career). Do you exercise? Getting that heart pumping can give you more energy and refresh the mind.
