Most user on line

Ok here something to me that doesn't quite add up, when I visit some forums with very little traffic say less than 5000 post, to me they are either just starting or not popular but yet when I see most users online the number is a lot 200, 300, 500, 1000 if not more.

Am I missing something here?

 

Probably they are using mods like the one I tried using on vbulletin to show a fake stat that shows a lot of users online, it's kind'a database manipulation - creating a fake users, registered and a fake stat! gets?

 

I guess that the same when I see how many members they have, I have even seen more members than post

 

Don't be fooled by that, I have tested it last week generating a fake members for about a hundred but with less posts or not having a posts.

 

Spam bots, slurps, googlebots, number of things.

 

who are they fooling really, any one with half a brain can still add 2+2

 

My forum is new and I use legitimate stats.

my most users online was 201 I serious don't know how but I think it was when My forum got to the front page of a bookmarking site


but I love it>) geting my 1000 UV's per day not exactly good traffic but traffic anyway

 

I made the foolish mistake of paying a PTC website to send traffic to a forum of mine in the past. It sent a burst of traffic in a very short space of time, but no sign-ups!
