Keyword density is the measurement in percentage, the number of times a keyword or phrase appears compared to the total number of words in a page. In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase. Due to the ease of managing keyword density, search engines usually implement other measures of relevancy to prevent unscrupulous webmasters from creating search spam through practices such as keyword stuffing.

    Background
Most internet surfers use search engine to look up information for convenience. Most people only pay attention to top 10 or top 20 sites in all result pages. So having a high rank in search result comes to be all webmasters’ biggest wish. Every search engine has their own search algorithm that considers web page content, keyword density, link popularity and other details. Keyword density makes important ratio in search algorithm. So in this paper, we discuss about how much is the most suitable keyword density.

Step 1, we make a list of web elements which may contain keywords, and I’ll just make simple introduction.
    1, META TITLE Tag
Title Tag should be informative about the web page content. It should be understandable outside of context and it always contains key phrase.
This is the first place keywords appeared.
    2, META Description Tag
Description Tag tells people what your site relate to. It is most often not used to determine search engine rankings, but sometimes it appears as the description under your link in search engine result. As usual , the Tag contains key phrase.
    This is the second place.
    3, META Keyword Tag
    This is the third place.
Keyword Tag has been abused and most search engine ignore the element in their search algorithm. Only a few search engines still use the Keyword Tag, so make it easily.
    4, Body Content
Body Content is the most important part in webpage, between tag <body> and </body>. It determines surfers will stay in the page or go to competitors. Search engine spiders scrap web-content and analyze it, find out most “repeated” phrase, and consider meaning of the phrase is closed the entire article. So keep a certain keyword density makes search engine better assess about the article based upon your keywords.
    This is the forth place.

Step 2, we’ll take 20 example about keyword density.
Search engine: google.com , because it is the most important and popular search engine in the world.
    Key phrase: father
    Analyze tool: SEOQUAKE
    TOP 20 RESULT:

(it cant make table here:mad:, pls visit here (details here;))Research about keyword density
some sites repeat keyword 20+,some even 40+,60+
    density comes to 7.68,8.51
    all these trouble me:confused:,
so how we can do ,and make our site friendly to SE:p

It's a waste of time to obsess over keyword density so much. Things like backlinks count for so much more than keyword density. Those other factors would make any keyword density research inaccurate. The keyword density will always vary for the top 10. It's just not that important a factor.

I agree with vansterdam. The extreme example of backlinks having greater weighting than keywords in page content is shown by Googling "click here". Number 1 out of approx. 1.5 billion results is Adobe.com and you won't find the keyword "click here" anywhere on the page or in the HTML code.

Still, the target page should contain same keywords mentioned in backlinks. Otherwise Google might consider it a "link bomb". (I don't know how Adobe.com does that?)

    @ Antilla

I think when there are so many links coming from very high quality websites (albeit amongst others of lower quality), the risk of those links being misinterpreted is non-existent.

adobe owns the "click here" keyword . It doesn't have proporsional keyword-density for "click here" keyword in its page. And Adobe doesn't use "click here" keyword in its main page title.

i think the most suitable keyword density is whatever you want between 0% - 8% range.
