I got a call this afternoon from a Search Engine Optimization company, the guy went on about how important it was to SEO my site, because of the traffic I would get, so forth and so on, I acted as if I did'nt know the difference between HTML and a BLT. Anyway I asked him the name of the company (again) and his company url. ok, while on the phone, I asked him how was it that he could promise me that my site can be made to come up on the first page of results for terms I wished, and meanwhile his company site was no where to be seen on the Google results for the term "Search Engine Optimization" the very same thing they claim to do. he gave me run around type answer. finally I told him , that it would be extremely difficult for me to hand over 1 penny to his company, and believe they can do for me, what they cant even do for themselves. Just as there are many here on DP that claim to do excellent SEO work. there are only 3 or 4 SEOs on the 1st page for Search Engine Optimization - other than wikis and forums. so therefore those are the best
I have noticed a similar thing. SEO companies are advertising on the radios, on TV, spamming me and calling me. I am noticing that SEO is starting to take the place of the shady house flipping deals of recent years.
I get spam all the time, "Be on First Page of Google". Ummm, if they did their homework and checked they'd see I'm there many times over already. I'd love to get a phone call from one of them myself and play the "newbie webmaster". lol
I provide SEO services (haven't gotten any customers from DP yet), and I have absolutely no problem proving that I currently have the ranks I promise to get for other people. Granted, I may not be on the first page of Google for 'SEO' or 'Search Engine Optimization', but that's because I haven't tried targeting those terms. As I said though, I have no problem showing you ranks I've achieved for terms I've targeted, and I think that's what counts.
LOL, most SEO companies are not nearly as good as they claim to be. Not all their customers are like you; lucky they are.
Don't worry, i get them also when i was already ranking on the first page for "SEO". It's simple, never take on an SEO that markets you in an Email or via phone.. They are marketing this way because they cannot rank websites.
There are lots of scam in the net, and I guess they will do another tricks just to get people's money out of scam. I also receiving mails about how they can boost up my site and etc.., I ignored them and do my thing, no problem at all..
Yeah, it may be on target if they shoot the newbie like me. So, this kind of information would be very useful for everbody to be aware and more vigilant. Thanks anyway.
Yeah, a great and easy way of checking the ability of an SEO company is to check out their SERP's... if they aren't near the top for "SEO" of "Search Engine Opitmisation"... then just how effective are they going to be on your websites rankings...
I am not on the front page because truthfully I am too busy working on other sites up till now to do too much work on my search engine optimization site but I am actually in the first 30 results or so for SEO on the big G so thats not too bad I think considering...
Not impossible, but it takes maintenance to keep the rank. I made it to #3 for "SEO" on Google.com but only have a screenshot of it in #4, but still i outranked everyone on the planet for the term besides Wiki. There was no point keeping the rank, i have more customers then i can handle and actually switch my contact form "off" a lot. Also the term doesn't send near as much traffic as you would think, a lot of it is bots trying to harvest your email, scrape your site or just general rubbish traffic.
LoL Who would have thought a North Coast NSW country bumpkin would get first page for the term SEO. Jus kidding.....well done son.
