What is the best way to research what keywords get the most searches and have the least competition? What are some tools that you use to discover this? Thanks for all the help in advance.
Google Keyword Tool is pretty much the standard for keyword research. There are some other tools out there, some good, some bad, but I think most start out with Google Keyword Tool and continue using it even if they pick up another tool at some point.
a balanced and well thought research on "Google Adwords Keyword Tool External" will provide you with the most searched keywords, now you can try searching these keywords on google.com to find the level of competitiveness, the greater the number of results on google.com, the more competitive the keyword is. Now, sort your keywords from least competitive to most competitive.

Hey, Dont depend on any software tool for keyword search its an interesting part of On page optimization do this with your own knowledge. Google Adwords is best tool for keyword research it not only shows keyword searches also it suggest some other relevant keywords for your main keyword. Also it more trustworthy than other keyword research softwares.
Hello For the best keyword results, type in google keyword tool and click on the very first link. It actually belongs to google. However to find which keywords work for you it might take some time as you have to take into consideration other factors. For a keyword to be profitable for you it has to be long tail and not have much competition. In other words the longer it is, the less competition it will have. If is has many searches but not that much competition, then that keyword is profitable to you. To find out how much competition a certain keyword has, type in google your keyword but with speech marks at the beginning and at the end of it. This shows you the results of how many websites have the exact same keyword. A profitable keyword has not more than 60.000 results, anything higher than that is going to be pretty hard to compete with. I hope you found this helpful. Raph Vasilas
I use Google keyword tool and I don't particularly see the need for other tools yet (though its time consuming I really don't mind much). However I used the free trial of "market samurai" it is a really good tool and and most the data is gotten from the google keyword tool. I just noticed that when you're signed in and using gkt, it offers more search options like google insights, etc. When conducting your searches always check the exact search box and also to check your competition, put your "key word" in Inverted comma's when you search in google. You want competition to be below 30,000 I'm usually comfortable with below 100,000. Go check it out.
To check out the exact number of competition with global and local searches for the keyword or keywords selection. Please used the Google Ad words Keyword Tool with general idea for the competition of that keywords from the search engine results pages.
