Hi, I have a website on making money from home. I know this topic is very common. But I want to work on this site and get more and more content, tips and tricks etc. I want to know what would be the easiest, most effective and at the same time most genuine way of getting good content. Lets think of ideas other than, hiring a copywriter or writing it yourself.
If you don't hire a writer or write it yourself you'll end up with rehashed crap that's on 1,000,000,000 other sites on the web. Depending on your market you could partner with an offline company who has a lot of content that's never been published to the web (newsletters, tutorials, etc).
Okay, there is no way round writing the content yourself or paying for it really. Not if you want good semi-original stuff. But not every page has to be a Pullitzer prize winner. You´ll get a lot of mileage on a making-money-from-home website on top ten tips type articles. I am sure you can take your knowledge of the subject and crank out a bunch of pages that summarise the basic concepts. Top Ten Tips to Making Money From Home Do´s and Dont´s of Making Money From Home Easily Avoidable Mistakes blad de blah, blah. It´s not rocket science but it will bulk out your content if that is what you are after and people love that kind of stuff. The Secret of Life in Ten Easy Steps.
You can use scripts to pull in and parse RSS feeds. This can get you a lot of links in the search engines, but doesn't do much to build a lot of credibility for you, as the business owner. My suggestion would be to add a blog to your site, and post on a regular basis. It is a little slow, but search engines are catching on to sites that automatically appear with a hundred or more content pages in a day or two. Best Regards, Steve MacLellan
Buy content or write it yourself... I have written a lot of articles on making money at home if you are interested in having someone write for you... If not, I agree with e10... use your own knowledge and write top 10 ways to make money at home etc...
I started off with most of my content from those "free articles" website. Some of the writing is very poor, but a lot is very useable. I combine those articles with photos from free photo stock sites and voila. At the expense of one outbound link, I have 100 nicely laid out articles and at least a start. Forums are one of the best ways to get indexed pages, just make sure the forum is very search engine friendly. I spent several days just weeding out issues with poorly designed links from phpBB.
I'm not a big fan of free content (duplicate content), but I already got into a heated debate about that in my first couple posts here. I would recommend sites like elance, guru.com, constant-content.com, and scriptlance for finding good content writers and lots of content. All I do these days is purchase content, once you start you can’t stop its too easy. Of course you should check all the content for plagiarism since there are so many writers that steal content and try to sell it to you. Scriptlance is full of these people. Constant-Content checks so your usually okaywith them and Guru and elance make sure you specify that you want original content and still check it through copyscape.com before paying.
Well that's one of the reasons I am wary... but when you're trying to start up on very little money, it's all I have. Basically I have a travel related site and do a fair bit of travel myself. I am intending on writing some of my own content as well as soliciting friends, family, and whomever want's a free link for some original stuff. If my revenue ever exceeds my costs, I'll be checking out those sites you've listed for sure. I am just in the "meat building" phase so free content is useful there.
The only other option is using free articles. www.ezinearticles.com is a great place to get free content for many topics. Hope this helps Marty
When I worked for a start up site some years ago I used many free content sites and when I started my own site I populated a lot of pages with articles culled from several of the article collections. In both cases I found that the pages were indexed and am surprised today to still find that some of the free article pages on my site are well-linked. I don't like those which demand you include a bible-length footnote to include the author's birth date, dna code and name of his first dog but the sites which offer plain content with a two or three line footer will always get my vote.
I am pretty sure writing your own stuff is free. Obviously it is more time-intensive, but if you are starting out and you don't have the funds to pay for others to produce original content, it seems like a decent investment of your time and may pay you significant dividends over the long-term. Nobody has done a study that I know of, but would you rather have 100 pages of duplicate rehashed content from other sources, or 10 pages of original content of your own creation and control? I know which one I want... I guess it depends what your goals are as a webpublisher are though. If you are just trying to make a quick buck, then maybe you can go with the faster route. if you are actually trying to create a useful site with useful information, rehashing articles already duplicated all over the net is not the way to do it.
You are right aeiouy. We can always ask few friends to chip in their ideas. And make up some good content for the site which would be expected to grow leeps n bounds as days go by
You make me feel a lot better - i've just signed a (very expensive) contract with a news agency for content on personal finance and the world cup... still worried it's not going to pay off!
