UPDATE: never mind, just realized my adsense code contained inline code specifying 'text + images'. Sorry about the trouble, I hope this helps someone in the same situation in the future. --- Hi, I run a network of around 8,000 sites, all using adsense for 2 years with so far no problem. About 3 weeks ago the vast majority of pages on all my sites saw their standard 'adsense text ads' block replaced with a big flash banner 'find your perfect lover'. Needless to say, my adsense income is now down by half. I've disabled 'graphic ads' and 'themed ads' in my adsense options (about 48h ago). Yet, these big ugly flash banners are still appearing. Any help, info or tip would be much appreciated! Thanks!
as i posted out here a couple of days ago, the ad text will always override the global settings on your account, when it comes to image ads. i haven't seen this new banner, but banners in general also lowered my earnings, just like they did yours... now start looking at how video ads are paying out on your account, as well as site-targeted cpm ads.
This particular ad was plastered all over my one successful blog, so I went and added them to my exclusion list and things are back to normal. Man, I wish I had that kind of marketing budget!
I have found image ads to give me a lower CTR, so I only use text as my default and for certain blocks I allow images... Else I wouldn't be making very much!
LOL! I turned off image ads, and I see the thing again now in a text format. For those interested, it's TheLoverCalculator.com
Are they showing up as CPM (cost per thousand) ads in your adsense CP? I bet you'll be making very little if so. Another thing I did to increase my earnings was email the adsense team and had them remove CPM ads from being displayed on my account. Some advertisers were paying 0.05 for 1,000 impressions on my site.... NOT OK.
