Most important tags?

    Forgive me if this is an old topic.... but what is the consensus on the most important tags? <title>, <h1>, <h2>, <b>, <a href>... which ones help our key words the most?

    I've heard that <title> is the most important, followed by the h's (<h1>, then <h2> and so on... but beyond that, I'm not sure?

    It seem to me that you just asked then answered you own question.

    The question is, important to what?

    While we're at it: is there any value--not necessarily related to SE placement, but including that--to using any of the less-common meta tags: "abstract", "author", "classification", "copyright", "doc-rights", "doc-type", "owner", or "reply-to"?

    You used the <a href> tag in your original list. This is the most valuable tag when used with good anchor text and particularly placed on someome elses site. Even used with good anchortext as navigation within your own site is important.

    But other that that there are no magic tags that will propel you to the top of the SERPs. It is like some many other things, doing well in the SERPs is 5% inspiration and 95% perspiration.

    I think it would be:
    <title>
    <h1>
    Other site Anchor text (IBLs)
    Internal Anchor text
    <img alt="">
    <h2>
    <b><strong>

    Most people directed to my site because my they found my keywords when they search google so I think title and other tags are least important than content..
