Most expensive item sold by Affiliate

I have been promoting amazon items for a little over 5 months and the most expensive item that I have been able to sell so far was of value $200 , not much commission there, just $12 (6% rate).

So what is the most expensive item that you have been able to sell as an amazon affiliate and is it very difficult to sell items that are over $500 or even $1K.

Share your experience with others. You do not need to reveal the product if you do not feel comfortable.

I haven't tried selling products online -- but wow, only a 6% commission rate? That's pretty low.

I think there's similar post like this one before.
But anyway, my most expensive sold item is Canon Digital Camera ($2600) and I get 4% commission since it's electronic item.

It was just my luck, since I didn't even promote that stuff :)

The more expensive an item, the more potential customers will compare prices, change their decision, etc. Your profit is number of items sold x comission for each.

So, 10 items for $200 will make you more than 1 item for $1000. There are people makings thousands of dollars a month with low price books, don't be too focussed on the comission per item only.

Several years ago I was able to sell a few $2,000+ HDTVs. Early last year (after Christmas) someone bought 3 gift certificates @ $3,000 each. At the time I wasn't even aware commission was paid on gift certificates. Commission on that one sale was $540 I believe.

on Amazon it is not important that how much expensive item you are promoting and it is more important that how much commission you are getting so promote those items which are less expensive and can be sold easily so you can get more money.
