So I'm trying to build up the PR of a photographer's site. Today I spent 2 hours finding 50 other photographers of the same genre who have a PR of 4 or higher, and asked if they want to participate in a linking project to boost PR. Many have responded favorably. What's the best way to implement it? Is it better to have a bunch of 1-way links? Or is it better to have a 40-way link exchange? Or a lot of smaller 3-way link exchanges? The logistics on this are baffling to me but I want to get the most bang for the buck.
I think that one-way links are given a higher rating than reciprocal links, but both still benefit you. I don't know how a three-way works. SE's may see that as three one-way links, or they may not.
Google can apparently detect 3-way links these days. As long as the link is relevant to your site, and can bring traffic, it's good. Don't just go after links for PR. Even reciprocal and indirect links can be valuable, if they bring you quality targeted traffic. Non-search engine traffic that's relevant can be worth more than SE traffic.
