I am with you, I am a huge Tarantino fan... his movies are violent and funny. Pulp Fiction is one of the greatest movies of all time, IMO...
Kill Bill Rules... Resevoir Dogs is much more nasty though - Ears cut off... Nasty stuff. Other nasty films worth watching. American History X (Story of Racism in America starring Edward Norton) Chopper (Real nasty) Romper Stomper (Real nasty - REALLY) A Clockwork Orange (Everyone should have seen this by now) Lots more I know of but can't think of any more...
I was watching it with on a date that wasn't going too well lol The movie didn't leave a good aftertaste in me. But about nasty movies: American History X I loved it, because it was very real and I have known people similar to the characters in there. Definitely worth watching
Totally. That movie was great! (American History X) Its disturbing that those kinds of people exist, but they do and I've known a few myself. How stupid do you have to be to be into "White Power" or anything like that?!!? I think the biggest way as a society we can rid ourselves of that garbage is to point out how stupid they are and laugh at them regularly for being such idiots.
The thing for me was the hatred that was shown among the group.... I really find it incredible that people as backward as that still exist in this day in age. Very disturbing Film... 8mm is another pretty nasty film IMO...
8mm is lame as hell, thats thing with the snuff film? Romper Stomper was good, its like american history x without any positive side There used to be fair amount of skin heads were I grew up and hungout, some of them were ok, but a lot are retards. I think the skinheads in NY are more like drunk punks then any sort of militant movement. What was chopper about? this one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0221073/
I loved those movies. Alot of American movies these days are trash. They are mostly crappy remakes, cartoons, or super hero flicks. Quentin Tarantino's movies are original, and have you talking for a long time after you see them.
It was about Mark 'Chopper' Reed, a notorious figure in organised crime here in Australia, here's a link about him http://www.melbournecrime.bizhosting.com/mread.htm. The thing that I always remember about this guy is that he cut his own ears off in jail It starred Eric Bana, an Australian actor you may know from the Incredible Hulk, Troy, and Blackhawk Down. Pretty good movie, but real dark, and hard to imagine people are really like that.
Quoting just to make a point here: I think most people missed the boat on Kill Bill. It is ONE MOVIE that was split in two by hollywood directors. "Part one" is like the first 30 minutes of any movie out there. Setting up the characters, story line, etc. "Part two" is like the last hour to hour and a half of any movie out there, actually telling the story and wrapping things up. I enjoyed Kill Bill as a whole. Try watching both DVD's on the same night. That is the best way to see it, as it was intended in the first place. As for the gore, c'mon guys and gals... it was all very cartoon-ish, or anime as someone else said earlier. Had it been realistic looking the movie wouldn't have been as good, I don't like any gory movies that I can think of. The fact that you could blantantly tell it was not realistic made the gore wash right over and helped the viewer get back to the story line. Which in my opinion was an excellent story. I feel sorry for the originater of this thread... he/she really shoud watch the entire movie (1 & 2) in one sitting and then tell us what he/she thinks! PhoenixHomes.com gives it two thumbs up!
The gore didn't really bother me. What bothered me was there's about 3 hours of actual movie split into 2 movies. So you watch the same thing over and over, too much filler.
It all adds to the atmosphere - Anime, B&W, FLashbacks... All these things are what make the movie so great. You see him do it in the film... Niiiiiiiiiiice.
I loved Kill Bill, as there are a million intracasies if you love Kung Fu movies. His style is like no one elses and its a shame people just focus on the violence. Its a realistic style of storytelling that doesn't baby the viewer. I realize thats not some peoples cup of tea. I hated Keanu Reeves "Walk in the Clouds" for instance and turned it off after 5 minutes but to each his own.
Good little article aboot Tarantino in this month's Wired. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.07/tarantino.html
what about the part when the 2 asia guys meet her at the bar when she is looking for the sword maker, that was like 5 minutes of junk
It means you understood more about the character of hanso. They'res a contrast between the way he acts in the bar and the way he acts once he starts to build the sword. It lets you understand the character better.
I thought that was a great part of the development. I didn't realize so many people didn't like it. I sat through the entire thing without a moment of boredom or any of the other thoughts people are posting.
