Most Creative Way To Get Traffic To Your Website ($10 for the winner)

A challenge to you. The winner gets $10 through paypal.

What is your most innovative way to get traffic to your website?

The limitations?..
No limitations. As long as it is creative, achieveable and brings you tons of traffic

The answer that I feel is the most creative and "wows" me the most will be the winner.

Place ur site name in forums sigs.
Spam in yahoo chatrooms.
Put some attractive contests.

 

A photo competition

Offer a cash prize to the visitor who gets a picture of themself holding a large placard with your URL on it in the most unusual setting.

Not only would this generate direct visitors (you can advertise the competition in forums) but it would also get people witnessing the photos asking questions too

 

Two words for you:

LINK BAIT

 

google , yahoo & msn groups postings, classified ads submissions, forum postings with sig, directory submissions, article submissions... link dump submissions...

Matt-baker, can you please expand on link bait, as it is too general to be considered as "innovative". (You don't have to, if you don't want to win the $10)

 

Essentially link bait is creating content that people just have to link to. They have no option other than to share it, it's just that appealing. Link bait should be at least one of the following:

• Incredibly Original
• Incredibly Cool
• Incredibly Useful
• Controversial
• Incredibly Funny

Link bait is viral, it spreads. You should be able to show it to one person and it will propagate around the Internet by itself. It requires no marketing and no promotion. It should find itself featured on social bookmarking sites and in turn bring you huge amounts of traffic. Great link bait is pure gold.

Thinking out of the box is required. Link bait is hard to come by but once you've found it, you'll be hooked.

 

Easy, get a beauiful girl. Tattoo your site across her breasts and arse and get her to run through your country naked.

 

As I think people are blind to text : Go for Visual/image ads -

Release apparels like T-shirts, Caps, Bags, Bikinis with your site logo
Buy Banner/video Advertisements from Newspapers, Television or internet
Hire forum Avatars

 

give out T-Shirts with your site's logo on X-mas.
-Use myspace to advertise your site :>
-make weekley contests so ppl come bak to check if the won
-sticking posters of your site on bus stops and lights :>
-having a HUGE hotair ballon floating around NY or Toronto with your logo and slogan.
-advertise for cheap in your local newspaper
- give out candy to kids for x-mas saying "hey kids, wanna visit the coolest site ever? go to www.xxxxx.com!"
- ummmmmmmmmmm
-if you have an email system in your site, for example like Hotmail, you could advertise you site like that and get returning visitors checking their emails :>
- you know on those club flyers that the promoters give out, maybe you can be a sponserer there - its not cheap but worth it :>
- go out in the streets yelling "go to my website!!!!!!!!!"
- AND THE BEST ONE:
you know how on msn they have those chain things that say that if you dont do something they are going to hunt or kill you? well you can start one saying "if you dont visit my great website, M-Topic.com - the coolest online games, and dont tell 15 friends to do the same, i am going to send a ghost at midnight which will hunt you for the rest of ur life" - therfor word to mouth!

1) Whatever you are making a profit off of, give some percentage of it back to a "winning" customer. For example, I am thinking about having a contest at my directory where some special customer gets their link upgraded to a featured link and they get win like $50 or something. It wouldnt hurt me to give them that money because 20 other people probably signed up to join this contest as well. It is kind of like a lottery per say. If I hypothetically make $500, giving $100 away is luring for a visitor, but just a fraction of my profits for me. Win win situation.

Run a contest! Running a good contest can be one of the best ways to drive tons of traffic to your site. Allowing users to win good prizes easily will give them so much incentive to check out all that you have to offer.

They are all pretty close so far. I don't want to reveal who is "wowing" me the most so far.
