Heh I've scrolled through first 5 pages of this forum and I've noticed BANS came up every second or third post and all people who are making over $100 per day mention BANS somewhere in their post. So are you someone who is making a living out of CJ AND using BANS or you don't affiliate with ebay and promote other CJ products or you think BANS is a must have in this field ? Oh and is GoDaddy hosting really that bad for BANS? My host is with them at the moment so would that mean I would be unable to get a smooth BANS site ?
The only people that use BANS are those who cannot build their own custom setup, I don't use it. Every BANS site out there is pretty much identical if you take away the header graphic. GoDaddy doesn't allow URL rewriting which BANS relies on.
I disagree. I have my own eBay custom-coded affiliate sites and I also use BANS. BANS sites, with the proper customization can be very effective. I agree that a large number of BANS users never customize their sites. But I have a highly customized set of BANS install files that lets me put up highly optimized sites in an afternoon. I've got 10 BANS sites now with another 20 planned for December. All will have sitemaps, cloaked ebay links, customized H1 links, SEO'd meta data, and unique logos. BANS gives me the flexibility to do this and do it quickly. While my custom sites eclipse my BANS sites in number of pages I've got more BANS niches launched with a wider variety of keywords, which I think is more healthy in the long run. Use the tools at hand, but use them effectively.
BANS sites have an H1 tag at the top of the page in the logo area. It always says the name of the site, so if your site name was "Bowling Equipment" every page would have an H1 tag at the top that said that. I've modified my sites to say the name of the page the visitor is on instead. That's better for SEO purposes and makes more sense in my opinion. The nice thing about BANS code is that it's pretty easy to modify.
The biggest earnings we have don't have BANS nor are they "made for ebay" sites at all. They are just sites that have been around a long time and built up either community or regular traffic.
actually, BANs or not, it doesnt matter. It all boils down to marketing to generate profits. BANS appeal to alot of people as they do not have the technically know how to build the store. I have BANS stores that made me great profits using the strategies detailed in my site (in sig). However I quit the program, but there's another story altogether ...
The ultimate question is: how well is that working for you? If it's pennies per day, then BANS doesn't seem worth purchasing, but if it's a $xx/day per site, then you're looking at a great buy.
Perhaps it's my fault in phrasing the question incorrectly but I was also refering to other scripts similar to BANS, that allow ebay item selling and real time update (whether home made or under a different name). However, from what I can see the most profitable sites for a new guy (like me) would be to make a BANS-like site to make the most out of CJ. Am I right ?
Isn't this forbidden by Search Engines??? I know Google will ban your sites when they discover they are thin affiliates.
I used CJ for a couple of years before learning about BANS at this forum. Originally I set up pages using eBay's affiliate tools. I am also associated with a multitude of other CJ advertisers and use mainly banner or product links for those on relevant niche pages. But since discovering BANS I have set up several stores using this tool. It is customizable and easy to create content page either directly through the BANS admin function or through customized pages of my own. Perhaps if I had heard about or stumbled upon a different eBay store script I would be using it. But here's the thing, BANS is easy and I made back my investment in about 6 weeks. By the way, I do have a GoDaddy host package which I will not be renewing. I have tried to set up a variety of different websites on GoDaddy, but had nothing but problems with the results and ended up using other hosts. GoDaddy is fine for domain registration, but its hosting has left me wanting.
Hmm has anyone had their eBay store de-indexed from google? I'm in the middle of working on a larger scale setup, got me wondering.
Mr I have not heard of anyone getting blown out by Google, but the key to BANS is not to be a thin affiliate. If you take the time to add content to the site then you can do well with the system. But if you throw crap on the wall then you will probably not have great success.
I just put up 10 BANS sites 1 month ago. Only 9 sites have been indexed through Google, but 2 sites are listed on page 1 and another on page 2. They have been getting re-crawled about every 5-6 days.
Er, what's BANS? Can someone explain in simple terms, perhaps with a link or two for me to look at? Cheers!
I'm not aware of any top earners on CJ who are using BANS. This forum is full of people looking for out-of-the-box solutions, and that's just not how the majority of people will make money with CJ.
Build a Niche Store hxxp://www.buildanichestore.com/ - from what I know, it's a script that mimmics the ebay style auctions with auto updating.
