landing pic, http://www.airliners.net/open.file/548917/L/ this ones even better..... http://images.airliners.net/open.file?id=027599 takeoff clip, i love this...just watch the force of the thrust on the water http://aviaforum.de/Video/B747-200 AirF rance (SXM TNCM).wmv reminds me of the joke about the guys wrestling to land the plane on the worlds shortest runway, after wrestling to stop the plane within 50 feet, the pilot turns to the co-pilot and says... " i can't believe they made this short runway 2 miles wide!!"

I think they are photoshopped. Especially the movie...hard to believe that those 4 people are put into the water, but the people just above them are laying on the beach without a care in the world.
i think they throw themselves at the water to get away from the sand storm that is created, i bet it ruins the sandwiches !! and probably the sandcastles too as far as i am aware..the beach in question is now closed to the public... probably thru fears that a beachball will be sucked into the engine as you can see in this pic http://images.airliners.net/open.file?id=713366 the beach has been filled with rocks.
I used to drive past southampton airport in the UK on the M27. Man, that could scare the crap out of you, the runway ends right next to the motorway! I'm surprised there weren't more people swerving off the road mouthing "WTF was that?!?!"
I believe it, if any of you guys watch mythbusters, they did something on this. There was footage of a big jet liner blowing a car off the road in a similar situation. So they tried to flip a car with an older jet engine, I think they just ended up tearing the bumper off and some other stuff, I wish I could find a recap of that episode, it was cool. Here's another cool video : http://www.StupidVideos.com/?VideoID=84
Nddb that was on Top Gear I believe. They ran a 747 at full blast but stationary and drove a car behind it. It flew away in pieces. I know some islands on the Dutch Antilles are that small that it can barely hold a runway. The video seems tampered to me, that'd be way too dangerous. But the pictures I believe. It's pretty nuts.
I think the landing ones are p'shopped especially the 747, why? obviously to stay in the air it has to push down a force equal to its weight right, a 747 weighs a lot and if that picture were real there would be so much water and sand everywhere being particuarly close to the ground the people would be thrown a mile. Has anyone ever seen the move of the firetruck waiting as a 747 lands over it? the firetruck gets thrown in the air so violently its like a playtoy!
I'm no engineer here, but i think you have missed the concept of LIFT. aircraft do not 'push down', they create lift by reducing the air pressure ABOVE the wings...therefore basically sucking the aircraft upwards...obviously there will be 'some' airflow downwards..but not the weight of the aircraft. someone feel free to correct me on this.
Solicitors, I think you are right, or there'd be a lot of flattened stuff in flight paths (like houses and people). It makes the air above less dense. Sort of like a hot air balloon I guess (?), in that the air is less dense so it goes up, to equalize pressure. It's not pushing down, just rising.
I have seen a video with a jet blowing over a stationary car, that was awesome. Some of these photos don't quite look right, but the angle can mess with the perception of the shot???? Jets don't push down but copters do... Maybe hovercrafts do, but not these jets. They are traveling very fast even when landing, I believe about 150 mph or such is as slow as they would be going at touchdown, but I am not really sure.
I'm not into cars but I love that program. What a life those lads have! Even I would enjoy doing their job!
