What do you guys find to be the most effective landing pages?
I was thinking of having my landing page just an email opt in, then they
get into the site....what have been your experiences with your landing page?

    thanks

    that's a good question.

The OPT-IN is good, but I've found lots of people don't even wanna opt-in for "free stuff"

Personally I would do a Review page, making your desired sale stand out as #1, then have the OPT-IN there for some kinda bonus whatever.

That way you'll at least present the product your selling, AND have the opt-in.

    Do both man.

It depends on whether you are selling your own product or the landing page is for an affiliate product. Because the pitch must be different.

Either way, story telling is the best way to keep the visitor's attention. If it is your own product then say why and how did you developed the product. If it is for an affiliate product then explain your own experience with that product.

Opt-in pages are not very successful unless it is in a very hot niche. People are reluctant to give away their email these days.

Look and feel of the landing page is very important. Keep it clean, no flash, easy to read format.

Anything that addresses the prospect's problem explicitly and directly, and provides proof of results. If you can do that it doesn't really matter what format it's in.

I do agree with TigerPublishing. If the traffic is highly targeted, no matter how the design of your landing page is.
