Well probably some kind of encourage,but you have to remember that tolerance and understanding is based (directly or indirectly) on thought that Europeans (westernmen,white men , whatever you call it) are dominant (pompous,heh?),once they lose that sent things are going to go bad. it's what happens when poor unfortunate people escape whichever hell hole they were born in and come to Europe. If they bring their religion, Which they invariably do, That particular religion will appear to grow. It's not so much that there are more muslims, it's that there are more immigrants who happen to be muslims fleeing to live in a civilised European country. Is this a plus for islam? No, It's a negative for countries with a high islamic population.
Since Mosques also serve as community centers of a sort, like Sikh Gurdwaras, this is an interesting development. If you haven't been inside a mosque before, check one out. They are quite different from Christian churches.
Well it happened and does happen with every religion, you can't just single out Islam for that, Christianity was born in the east, now most western countrys have thousands of churches etc Anyway the spread of Islam is a prophecy being fulfilled infront of our very eyes right now
Not really, it's called immigration. There's no ancient prophecy (to my knowledge) that the Polish would spread, yet more Polish have arrived in the UK than Muslims over recent years.

So I think prophecy is going to wait a little while
Funny, I've never known anyone to convert to islam, not saying it doesn't happen but 'the spread of islam' is definitely not being being fulfilled 'infront of my eyes'. Infact, religion as a whole has lost a lot of following in the UK over the last few decades.

Islam is growing rapidly in Russia and China also. However, those links you posted didn't really say much other than 14,000 white people in the UK are now muslims. The point is, I'm white and British, I've never heard of anyone who's converted, because in a country with 60,000,000 people, 14,000 isn't much at all. Secondly, I'm from an area of London with a high Turkish population. Of the muslims I know (from Turkish and Indian background), nearly everyone of them drinks alcohol and eats more bacon than I do; they don't give a toss about their religion. The only reason they call themselves muslim is because of their parents. I'm pretty sure when some of my muslim mates have kids, they won't make their children follow islam just because they were forced into it as kids. Also, having studied Chinese culture and language for quite a while I know they've never been a particularly religious people, infact a lot of the people I know from China regard the islamic parts of China as quite primitive, so I find it odd that you think it's really spreading there, it's definitely not in the cities (Shanghai, Beijing or Hong Kong). But yeah, this is only my experience from someone who actually lives in the UK, maybe you can dig up some web links from 2003 to prove me wrong, who knows

I didn't, You did. You made the thread specifically about mosques in the Netherlands, I was explaining why they need more mosques, it's because it's a hot spot for immigrants escaping countries with a high islamic population.
I've never been inside of a mosque... but i picture lots of rugs and the leader with his back turned to the visitors facing in an easterly direction (since everyone faces that direction while praying, no?).
Well they arent skilled enough so the goverment wants skilled workers such as doctors and such, skills that people like you can't provide.

IMO, "immigration" per se is neither good or bad, it's just a noun that refers to movement of people. For some countries immigration is essential and encouraged (like Canada), but every country is different and it is up to them to regulate in the way that's best for them. like it or not, 6 billion people don't fit in Manhattan.
