    Another sad event...

Suspected suicide attack kills at least 35 at Moscow's main airport, after security agencies reportedly received a warning

At least 35 people were killed and 130 injured in a suspected suicide bombing today at Moscow's biggest airport, Domodedovo, Russian officials said.

A spokeswoman for the healthcare ministry said a further 20 people injured in the bombing were in a critical condition in hospital. Sources said three men were suspected of plotting the explosion, which had the power of 7kg of TNT.

The attack is the most deadly in Russia since last March when two female suicide bombers from Russia's Mulsim-majority Dagestan region set off explosives on the subway system, killing 40 people. It was Moscow's worst attack for six years.

Who are we to blame this time?

It's time the EU leaders sort this and get rid of the extremists pests living on their lands...

My hearth and prayers go to the poor souls that left this world today . No matter how horrendous a regime might be , nothing justifies this act . May God have mercy on all of them and their families and those that lived trough this .

May all of them find peace and that shred of happiness humans deserve .

Just boggles the mind that somebody thinks this furthers any cause. Just tragically stupid.

Just watched the NBC news broadcast on this. They made mention of the high probability the attack was performed by Chechen rebels, but didn't really provide any background information. Assuming it is the Chechen rebels, it is the same group responsible for the murdering civilians in train stations, schools, and a variety of other soft targets throughout Russia.

One of their larger attacks was the taking of more than 1,100 student hostages in Beslan in 2004, more than 300 of which died. The note to Mr. Putin from the rebel group read as follows:

I thought it was curious that the NBC report from the link above provided almost no background information on the most likely suspects in this attack. I also thought it was curious that the above note only offers 15 years of peace.

agree with you 100%. For this reason our fellow Muslim friends wouldn't try justify this and just say it's banned in Islam without showing any reliable evidence!
can't forge that tragedy. that demonstrated how much ideological people could be blind and brutal. I guess even Satan and devils can’t do what they done there.

Just you watch, conveniently body scanners and the sort will now go up in Russian airports to "prevent" this from happening again, no doubt.

I'd keep an eye on body scanner makers. Perhaps Dick Cheney is a former VP in one of them? ;)

I found this timeline of major terror attacks in Russia since 1995. Glancing over the timeline, it appears to be all coming from Chechen rebels. There were a few events in there I hadn't been aware of, like the seizing and hostage taking at a few hospitals, and holding 800 people hostage at a Moscow theater.

Interesting how the proactive and offensive stance the US has taken on the terrorism front has resulted in fewer if any of these such attacks being successfully carried out here. Maybe the rest of the world will get a clue and join us in the good fight.

A wouldn't call the farce that has resulted in the murder of over a million civilians a "good" fight. But that's just collateral damage, right?

A million civilians is an exaggeration. In retrospect, its also hard to lump the buildup to the war in Iraq into the war on terror, though it certainly became the front line.

I don't believe terrorism is a farce. It's a very real threat, and something we have been fighting for some time. Its a shame that so many have had to die by the hands of an evil religion and failed ideology. At least we're doing what we can to put an end to it.

If terrorists believe that the innocents they kill are "collateral" damage, I guess I'd have to disagree. When you run around with a bomb attached to yourself and kill innocent people, its murder. At least that's my take.

That sad they would come down to this level. Time for more fondling up passengers to get back to high security.

I heard the TSA is trying to unionize, so now you'll have 5 others TSA agents watching one fondle.

Is that considered voyerism? On a personal level, I suppose its better than being gang fondled by all 5. Between the body scanner footage and tape from the airport security cameras of passengers being fondled, the government could open up a healthy internet porn operation.

there is no putting and end to terror unless you remove the cause...action=reaction and so on...its utopia to believe one can change this by more reaction...alquaida does not hate the USA for nothing nor do the chechens bomb the russians for laughs...not defending alquaida or chechens or any other bomb droppers US army included...just saying its silly to believe you can stop violence with more violence this "sic vis pacem, para bellum" crap is terrors best friend...the US has been fighting terror for decades and its at an all time high...spot a trend?

The US has only been fighting terror for less than a decade. We resounded ourselves to complacency for several years. I see us slowing down and becoming complacent once again. Once that happens, the cycle starts all over again.

Russia is very famous for good security system. I feel surprised at this news. This attack harms Russia's international image over the world.
