This website is copy pasting my article, which my news team writes. He uses it on the basis of "fair use" we have the same niche, however he gets more traffic because he provides more copy pasting articles from different websites including mine.

What can be done about him? Google adsense funds this copyright violater!

Any suggestion to make him stop?

    1. Send him a cease and desist notice, and give him 48 hours to remove the content. It's not fair use as he claims if he's republishing full articles for commercial purposes in the way that he seems to be from that link. "News" doesn't mean it's free to republish.

    2. If he doesn't remove it, contact Adsense and report him. Use their DMCA complaint procedures. You can get his Adsense account banned.

    3. Report the site to Google, Yahoo, and MSN using their DMCA requirements (you'll need to tell them what pages were stolen from you, from your site, and on his). They can de-index any infringing content.

    4. After that's done, track down his hosting company and file a DMCA complaint with them. Chances are that they'll order him to remove the infringing material, and if he doesn't, they'll shut down his site or remove at least your content (if it's all stolen, report all of it and where it's taken from).

The reason I'd go with advertisers and SEs first is that if the site is already shut down because of the host, they won't see it, and they won't de-index quickly (and having their adsense account banned is just a nice bonus for bottom-feeders like that).

There is a nice cease and desist form, just type it in Google and it comes up on the top. I had to use one recently myself, good luck !

Fair use means that he uses a small section of the article & adds comments/value of his own. He can't just copy/paste your content wholesale.

That said, this is really hard to police. I deal with it on my site too. I send a C&D first, then contact the host ISP. I've never had to go so far as to contact Google -- a DMCA sent to the host generally takes care of it.

If you know the IP the other site is using to access your site you can also do a little creative redirecting and feed them some *ahem* incorrect news. Nothing like a little egg on one's face to encourage honesty.

By reporting them to Google first, you're making sure their copies of your content are removed from the index - if you don't, Google can take a while to get around to it on their own. This is especially important if the content thief has high search engine rankings that may be directly hurting your own traffic.

By reporting them to Google for the adsense violation, you're making sure their account gets banned (not easy to get reinstated), so they'll lose revenue directly on that site or any other where they're running Adsense.

The idea is to take their traffic and/or income, so you can essentially "hit them where it hurts." It's a simple, and effective, way to teach them a lesson. :)
