Wordpress has released its new theme - twentyeleven. The interesting thing I found that each post title in this theme is in heading <H1> . Since wordpress is considered best for seo purpose, I don't think why they are making each blog post H1 . So if you display 5 post on homepage, then there will be total 6 <h1> heading ( including site name) on home page. Is it good ? Or there is going some new trend regarding H1 heading in SEO?
The only reason to have more than one H1 on your homepage is if you have a TON of copy on your page. H1 tag, then multiple paragraphs of copy, another H1, multiple paragraph of copy, etc....
each heading will be crawled by Google so you will get a good amount of keywords crawled. isn't it good? i think its very good for SEO. thanks
Well it is better to have single H1 for SEO. But you can have many H1, H2.. So you go to theme > twenty eleven > index.php and edit it and change it to H2.
According to Matt Cutts from Google you can have more than one H1 tag on a page, but if you overdo, Google will treat it as spam. So its best to only have one H1 tag per page with your keyword and then use h2-h6 tags for further content.
Some thing excessive is not good. If your page has many H1 tags, then Google may count it as spam. So, that theme may harm your site's ranking.
Its not me, but its wordpress who has released its brand new theme - twenty eleven which has multiple H1 heading i.e. each title of post is in H1 head.
Just make a single H1 with your main keyword and put other keywords in H2, H3.. This is good SEO practice
