Hi I have a contest that I hope will have good coders/designers flexing their design muscles. I need a WP guru, someone who really knows how to get the best out of and can instal all the plugins required. I want to really push Wordpress and show what you can do with it (without it looking WP). The site will use various plugins and goodies to make it almost fully automated and at the end of this I should have a comprensive site that can be managed from a easy to operate cms. It has to have e-commerce and be fully coded. The site is starting off as an information site with environmental blogs, product critiques, eco faqs and tips but I want to quickly build it to become a serious online store/portal! I have had the template for the index page and one inner page doen and I the rest of the other page templates/interfaces to be clean, web2 type version, simple to use, easy to navigate but attractive. The site already has a good logo does it need another – You tell me. I have never done this before so I'm not sure what the prize should be, I would appreciate it if some of the top coders would pm me for a brief and maybe let me know what they think and I will put up the prize money based on this.
LAYOUT FOR MAIN CONTENT: The index page already done is a mix of all things going on throughout the site. Once the header area and the navigation is built for the main content area I need an animation to strongly reinforce what we are all about (my niche is innovative, new, money-saving eco products, environmental news, and a business opportunity) so should show frames of eco concern, or new eco/money saving products that we recommend!! – For animation holder I want it to look different than usual WP offerings, I want a bigger, more polished - like http://magazine.wsj.com with 4 frames in the slideshow with headings under the frames. HOME & GARDEN – FEATURED PRODUCTS - SHOPPING REVOLUTION + ECO BUSINESS (I particularly like the shopping one on WSJ; ours would show different eco products in the shopping slide plus a similar black Buyers Market type graphic to the right) Main page already done see - http://img517.imageshack.us:80/img51.../ecomatev5.jpg Needs some good green content and there are lots of WP blogs out there doing it so finding stuff on solar panels, green cars, green products should be easy. RIGHT HAND COLUMN: under SUBSCRIBE – we’ll have some good quality “how to†eco videos that you can find all over the web. I would like multiple videos, which change as people browse the site not just one see www.spiritsbreath.com seemingly its using an available WP plugin to do this. MAIN CONTENT: Under the animation, the page will break to two columns and we’ll have 4 boxes with these headers: GREEN HOMES – HEALTHY YOU – GREEN SHOPPING – GREEN PLANET = one ad in each. Need content for this. See this 3-column layout in www.mygreenway.com When a user clicks on any of these (more info type boxes) they will be taken to pages showing ALL listings “under that header/category†– with this layout, see 2 column layout at the bottom half of the www.mygreenway.com page - when the reader clicks on individual items “read more..†they get the full story relating to the item. The site has to have unique content, it has to have twitter page (which auto-updates the twitter page with all new content on the site) I have to be able to critique new products, needs PLR content. I don’t want an amazon shop, I would want a proper shopping cart so I can upload my own products, it would be made to match the site colours as you can see in the OUR SHOP but NOT an associate-o-matic script in a frame inside the site as in www.spiritsbreath.com this leads to scrolling within pages that already scroll, definite NO on this. Will the WP e-commerce be good enough for this, there are many others online the main things are it matches the site, it is solid, secure and bug free, found this little one http://www.nigelsecostore.com/ looks like WP but I think its written in perl. Would like mine to have a better layout and better sales pages but all-in-all this is ok. – Should THE SHOP open in a new browser?? Here are three Wordpress sites I would like to take the best from all of them to create the site. www.greenvert.net has lots of goodies/tools/plugins on it and its obviously a green site – buts its too dark and a bit depressing. The three-column layout is good when you have a lot to go on the index pages, but needs to be better designed. www.mygreenway.com got some of the parts however is does look more blog, prefer the greenvert pages although as I said too dark and want my site to NOT to look like a wordpress blog. www.envirogadget.com a simple wordpress blog that critiques green products not much to look at but critiques innovative products as I want to do in part of my site. Need PLR content like he has?? I KNOW THIS SEEMS LIKE A LOT BUT PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING I’M ASKING FOR IS ALREADY AVAILABLE AND WOULD BE SUPPLIED IN ANY BOG-STANDARD WP THEME AND ALL THE PLUGINS ARE AVAILABLE TOO. ECOTIQUES: Need a critique pages for products like on envirogadget.com (however the pages need to be better presented and fit the overall look) – accessed via a tab on the navigation. PLUS need a graphic advertising ECOTIQUES we critique the best new products as this will be one of the USP’s somewhere on the homepage ECOTIPS: Tab on the navigation and an advert somewhere on the homepage, giving general tips on how to save energy, let registered member give tips to build into green “how to†database?. WORDPRESS: Wordpress HD video and podcast software for the green/eco videos?? NING: Would I need a NING social network or would the forum cover or the SIGN UP to some kind of newsletter/ebook/membership cover this? MARKETING: Need to market products with tax incentives/grants/subsidies for GOING GREEN! – and these should be highly visible on the site – also the companies who will install those!! Therefore there would be a PARTNERS graphic showing various linked logos, right-hand column?? The http://www.ecochamber.com/ FOUNDING TRUSTEES and SPONSORS good idea perhaps split this part of the column with the rss news feeds as they have done? OUR STORE: via tab on navigation ECOSHOP using WP ecommerce or StorePress sitemile.com? RSS FEEDS: A MUST HAVE with relevant up-to-date eco news. Do WP have their own, what about google feedburner which seems to be the one on most of these sites, or are their other better ones. The content has to cater for a UK/European market with what’s happening in the US and the rest of the world being secondary or newsworthy. GOOGLE ADS: Not sure or is there something better?? SEO keywords: save energy, solar power, eco gadgets, environment, stop global warming, global warming, solar panels, money saving, - and anything else you can think of? Make Solar Power, LATER ADDITIONS: AFFILIATE SCRIPT: Will need an affiliate script installed at some point (if there is nothing open-source) I will buy this later so agents who want to run the business in their local areas can manage their businesses, check their commissions/earnings etc – So at this stage would want a START YOUR OWN LOCAL XXXXXXXX BUSINESS – COMING SOON – APPLY NOW animated/flashing graphic.
