Would be cool if usernames could have a share value or something...interesting to see who's worth the most

Depends if the viewer of the ads is looking at the forum or a single post. If you are going to give an answer you need to explain yourself.

That would be really cool :D

Where are the clicks coming from? I never even notice the ads -- totally ad-blind.

Clicks are coming from DP forum users. I am also ad-blind like you are. But looks like there are enough users who see ads that they are interested in.

One thing is for sure. DP could be making a whole lot more if the Adsense placement was improved. I guess Shawn is trying to keep it clean - his choice. A leaderboard below the navbar could do wonders.

As for the Alexa rank, it's mighty inflated and inaccurate. My guess is that the vast majority of webmasters who hit this board have the Alexa bar installed, giving this forum is mighty bump in the rankings. My main forum has over 30k uniques/day, over 30,000 posts per week (more than DP it seems) and its Alexa rank is in the high 4 digits.

That's actually less than just the forum of DP (5,000+ posts/day is normal now:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=dp_faq#faq_statistics

Also, you are forgetting we have huge traffic to www.digitalpoint.com too (which is totally different than the forum, but still included in the Alexa numbers since it's for the whole domain).

I also know most users don't have the Alexa toolbar installed for the simple fact that the majority of the users use Firefox.

The thing that amazes me is how many people click on the ads here at DP (according to my channel stats). Like most others here I'm completely blind to the ads. On the very very rare occasion I actually read what's in the ad, but have never been interested enough in what was being advertised to click.

Actually, I've never thought of this before but I guess we actually have to be careful to not click on ads that we've participated in due to revenue sharing (for those of us signed up)? Can this be extended to the CPM ads too?

there are many guest coming here,in search of someting new to earn money.they are crazy of earning money ,so if they see any ads related to money earning they will immediately click the ads ,

and as per self click is concerned when you sign in in DP you'll net get shown your ads yourself ,so no chances of self clicking your ads
    this is cool dude

Example.. someone signs up on the revenue sharing program. They start a thread. They then go into that thread and start clicking the ads that come up. They'll get a portion of that click revenue from the revenue sharing. That's fraud right? :)
