Google doesnt "like" when teh page has more than 100 external links, so I was thinking, if i do have, lets say, 120 links on the page (just an example) and 100 of them will have the rel="nofollow" added, will it look in SE's eyes as if i only have 20 links, and my page won't be devalued or considered as spammy? and if yes, roughly speaking, it would be good to add rel="nofollow" to as many extrarnal links as i can, say technorati fav, feedburner etc, to artificially reduce the links count?
Probably this is like you say, but have in mind that google emphasize links relevancy to site's content, so probably if you have even 100 links, but they are not just random, and your page gives an original content to them, they should be counted and not considered as a spam.
google ignore links with nofollow. because this, if you are using 120 links with nofollow, google will see zero link on that page
They dont really ignore them, they know they are their, they just down give them the same value that a "normal" link would have. If you want to have them completely ignored you should use javascript.
okay, thanks for your replies guys! I think since they have a lower value it's better to add nofollow to as many links as possible (except my own and the sponsored ones) to keep the page "cleaner" .
If the links have no relevance to the sites theme all that text in the links wont do you any good no follow or not
not no-following the sponsored links is the complete opposite of what google would like you to do. Google won't follow a nofollowed link, so its not a matter of having less value its ZERO value.
I'm not sure you want to come out and say that as conclusive. Google won't count the links, but they are wishy washy on whether they can see them. My guess is they see them, record them even, but don't count them or follow them.
