Hey everyone. If you haven't already seen my blog, you can find it at TalkPrice.net. I got some feedback that the front page is WAY too busy (too much text, pictures are too huge, etc.) so I decided to make it much crisper and cleaner. To do this, I thought the best way was to split my posts with <!--more--> tags. Our content quality will stay the same, but now, it'll be much easier for people to get to the post they want, and not have to scroll too much. I was just wondering what your opinions on the front page of my blog and my usage of the custom <!--more--> codes. All constructive criticism is VERY appreciated.
Use 'em all the time with the blogs I work on I don't believe the SE's even see that... they just see the link.
I agree with Scoopy82, the search engines are smart enough to not care. I have used the link for long post and have never seen any problems in my ranking
Sweet! Previously, it's like my front page had 20,000 characters. Now, I don't think the length will bother anyone!
I started using MORE tags once I found out that my home page is so long it takes few minutes just to scroll down to older posts. With more tag, you can keep more posts on the home page. Another advantage is that the older posts will be visible for longer time. By the way... the best use of MORE tag is with ajax plugin. It will ajaxize the link so once you click on "Read more" only the post will reload, not the whole page
I'm always using this tag! For: JakeCohen: In order to use the tag, insert this simple tag code: <!--more--> under your CODE tab (when you edit or write a new post) - send me a message in private if you still have difficulties to use the <!--more--> tag. Success everyone!
