For a completely separate installation doing the same thing, that points to a conflict with software on your server. Just to make sure, you didn't point to the same database, you made a clean one, or else used a different prefix. Is that correct?

If so, then you've pretty much eliminated any corruption in your installation. That leaves a conflict with your server. What version of PHP and MySQL are you running?

The next steps are to look at the software on your server. What version of php and

Ok, well i am in the middle of moving servers anyway because where I am at is crap. I am going to install VB again on the new server and then backup my old database! I'll install the old database on the new server with a new install of VB and see if that works! That should eliminate the problems! Hopefully this crap isn't imbedded in my old database though!

Hey JAC. I have new hosting now and did some stuff! I reinstalled VB on the new server, same version, the latest! Then I backed up the old database and restored it to the new server! I am getting buku errors! Is it because the new VB does not have the same stuff as the old one? Thanks in advance?

As long as its the same version, that should work. If you backed up using the backup tool inside the admin cp, that could be the problem, but your forum is still small enough that it should work ok. Using the command line to backup is always better. It is possible there were problems with your old database with the flakiness you have been seeing. I'm leaning more towards database corruption on your old server.

Going to a better host gives you a good opportunity to start clean. These are the steps I would do next. You may want to get back with JelSoft tech support to see if they can find anything else.

    1) Create a new clean database
    2) Do not install vBSEO or anything else before testing it.
    3) Send yourself a PM and see if you can delete it.
If it doesn't work here on your new server, then get back with JelSoft.
    4) With the PM functional, use ImpEx to import from your old vBulletin to your new one, rather than doing a restore.
    5) Send yourself a PM and see if you can delete it.

ImpEx will bring over data without bringing over everything. It may be just the trick to clear up whatever is wrong.

OK, what is impex? Is that a cpanel option? Also, when I bought over my database using restore, it brought over some of the mods and stuff I also had! Will impex be the problem solver here? Thanks

I hope ImpEx can solve it for you. ImpEx is the import/export system for vBulletin. You get this from the members area. It's in the same place where you download vbulletin.

If this works, put your mods back in one at the time and check to see if your PM's are broken after each mod.

nice, I have downloaded and installed impex on the new server along with vbulletin and a database with the same name as before! I can't seem to get impex to connect to my other database, I think there is something wrong in the config file maybe? I'll update when I get that solved and I can connect through impex!

Is your database on the same server? If not, it may be that you need to authorize the access to the db from one server to the other.

Were you able to delete a PM successfully before using ImpEx?

No I wasn't? I have started a support ticket through vbulletin.com, so hopefully they will solve the issue! The only response I have gotten over there so far is to reinstall, and I have done that with no success? So, any more ideas on this one?

No offence to itjman22 but there is no way to verify that he is a legitimate vbulletin licensee, this problem should be posted on the official vbulletin forums.
DP members should discourage such threads; my 2 cents :)

If a clean install on a different server still didn't work, then I do not know what else could be causing the problems. Their tech support is pretty good. Let them know the things you've tried here. You'll probably need to set them up an account on your forum so they can sign in and take a look around. Let me know how it goes. Hopefully they can track down what's going on.
