Hey. I posted a question in the SEO forum but got no reply.. so i'm hoping to get some help here. I have a keyword that has 200,000 results on google without quotes, but has 7,000,000 results with quotes. What does this mean? I want to know if I should attempt to conquer this keyword. I for sure would if it was 200,000 results, but the 7,000,000 results WITH quotes is throwing me off.. I don't want to waste my efforts.. usually theres alot less results with keywords. any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Have you tried typing in the keywords you are listed under both with and without the quotes to see how you fair? Also, most people type in keywords without the quotes, so.... I typed in a slew of keywords with and without the quotes, and I didnt see much of a change in the ranking of Websites. The same Websites were there. You can put in both versions in your html.
thanks alot for your reply.. rep added b/c i've been waiting anxiously to get some input for someone with no luck. what do you mean "put both versions in your html??"
I'm not a fan of seo, but I do it anyway. I get it up, and move on to advertising, but on several of my subdomains, I use both: updated dating advice men, "dating advice men" in my html code. But I have noticed in others sites that rank high that it doesn't make a bit of difference which ones they use. In fact, just about all of them don't use quotes. On the same subject I do, askmen.com, about.com and bullz-eye.com are all over page one in many search terms, and they don't use quotes. About.com is all over the fucking place, and I haven't seen any of their keywords in quotes. Granted, it is a huge content site that engines love, but I have seen much smaller sites that don't use them also. You could create more pages, subdomains, in your site and use both as an experiment, if you are still in doubt.
