Hi, I need some suggestions as I have been asked to find a more in depth stats package than Google Analytics. The company want to track individual visitors through the site The package needs to run on a Windows server and be able to analyse IIS log files. We don't mind paying a fee for this. Any suggestions guys? Thanks, D
It is very tough to get such traffic analysis details by any tool.. Clarify more, what type of details required by The company you are talking about?
I'm surprised analytics isnt enough for you - once you learn how to use all the features its pretty awesome and detailed. I suppose you could set up session IDs to track indiviudal visitors but this isn't a very SE friendly way of doing things I dont think
You could check your stats through Awstats and few other tools together with G Analytics so that you can get depth analysis using different source.
Really i m surprised too... Google analytics is really awesome.. as Shellerz has mentioned above you can create some customized tool for such type of reports... if u stuck somewhere (in using analytics) please come up with that.. .we all are here to help u out
To see how individual visitors are moving through the site, you can use statcounter - you would have to add the code to every page.
I think the solution you're looking for doesn't really exist. The amount of raw computing power that would be required to process such detailed statistics for every individual user would mean it just isn't technically feasible.
Google analytics not in depth? Hmmm.... How much more depth do you need? You can integrate google api I believe too with it.
Here at work, we've just decided on Omniture SiteCatalyst. It blows Analytics away with the amount of stuff it can do, and it even integrates with our databases and telemarketing center to track leads. Kind of pricey though.
Google Analytics is fine in measuring everything and looks more web 2.0'ish at showing the data. Statcounter does its job effectively and IMO is better at collecting stats.
Analytics does what you want. Keep digging and you will find what you are looking for. If you need to track parts of the site you set up funnels. Analytics is based on Urchin which was the creme of the crop. hope that helps, Nigel
