What if the patriot act was passed, and this spying started RIGHT AFTER 9/11 to make sure they could spy on anyone who is investigating what REALLY happened at 9/11 and make sure the truth never got out?

What if all this muslim terror crap is just a front?

Sorry, but there's no room for you to stop it. The only thing Bush needs to do is to secure that his army is loyal and then use it against his own people if he needs too. You are a 'democracy' (you vote etc), republic does only mean that you also vote for a leader(king).

We are not a democracy, I suggest you look into the terms of democracy versus republic, in fact check the Cia's own website out which lists the US as a republic...

Do that come back and realise the US is a republic, and we'll go from there.

I don't care about that, my own logic is more important for me. I call it a 'democracy' because people should decide their leadership. North Korea is also a 'democratic' country.

(But why switch subject.. I wnt to discuss the interesting part)

Because you were incorrect on a huge principle of what our nation is, without being correct from the basis you kind of have no point or rational reasoning to continue the overall argument....;)

Ok fair enough, so are you saying that if Bush could become an almighty dictator of the US you would be for it and the US population should sit idle and do nothing about it?

BTW,,,I am not in this against Bush, against the reasoning....Had one poster take my reasoning arguments as anti Bush in the war thread, and want to make it crystal clear this is not my intention as that little dispute has yet to be resolved.

Seriously, I knew that US was a republic since 10 years ago. Calling US a 'democracy' doesn't mean that I deny the fact that it is a republic.

No, but if you do than you can make yourself big troubles(beeing sent to terrorcamps etc). I would rather keep a low profile towards the worlds most powerfull man.
    Great!

Saying nothing goes against much of what this country was founded on and only allows for the horror of a dictator coming into power that much more realistic.

Bush was denied wiretaps, bypassed them

WASHINGTON, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush decided to skip seeking warrants for international wiretaps because the court was challenging him at an unprecedented rate.

A review of Justice Department reports to Congress by Heart newspapers shows the 26-year-old Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court modified more wiretap requests from the Bush administration than the four previous presidential administrations combined.

The 11-judge court that authorizes FISA wiretaps modified only two search warrant orders out of the 13,102 applications approved over the first 22 years of the court's operation.

But since 2001, the judges have modified 179 of the 5,645 requests for surveillance by the Bush administration, the report said. A total of 173 of those court-ordered "substantive modifications" took place in 2003 and 2004. And, the judges also rejected or deferred at least six requests for warrants during those two years -- the first outright rejection of a wiretap request in the court's history.
