i have read that the more adsense ads on your site or blog the clicks values decrease and the fewer the ads the the higher the value per click. any 411 on this? if true what is the happy medium on amount of ads per blog/website?
Yes, It has worked for me, that is less Ads = More value for the clicks but you need to see which Ads you can take off because you might end up removing the Ad which is fetching you more money.
It's just that the more ads you have, the more clicks you get but the more chances that low paying ads are being clicked. But what is different between 4 clicks at $1 and 40 clicks at $0.1 ?
It's the fact that more ads per page = more lower paying advertisers ads being displayed on your site pages. There are also other considerations which merit limiting the number of adsense blocks to 2 maximum... but it's your call Test. Dean
I've found that if you treat your site like a real shop you have more success. What I mean by that is if you want people to click on adsense ads then you need to place them in the areas where they are mostly likely to be tempted. Just like the confectionery around the checkout So it's often pointless have them at the top of your site. In general you want to guess where the visitor might be when they are thinking about leaving your site and then place ads there. Often thats at the bottom on the site. Of cause it's never a good idea for ecommerce site to have adverts at the top. This is like telling your customers to turn straught around and go somewher else with there cash. Yet so many do Look for areas of your site where you visitors might be losing interest, thats the place for adsence or google search in my opinion. Sticking them in the middle of interesting content just means they will be ignored and even worse annoy the visitor.
sometimes less ads can bring you more revenue. more ads you have on a page, more lower quality ads get displyed, and less it pays.
yes I agree with it. Also here is an interesting article to read: http://www.jimkarter.com/2008-09-22-adsense-tips-from-google.html
You miss understand the point. We all know the first sight in the happening place but you have think in terms of visitors to ecommerce site only have two objectives. One to see what they want - they expect to see that on your site. After that their interest dies and their next objective is to go elsewhere and this is where the money on ads can be made. Why would anyone want to earn their money from ads if they have a ecommerce site? there your aim is to keep them on the site as long as possible so they buy your goods. So the ads shoud be a second concideration and so in areas where the focus is most likely to be when they lose interest in your site. If thats above the fold then thats a concern for the ecommerce site.
If you have less ad slots on your page then it means advertisers have more competition to show ads on your page and will bid more resulting in higher CPC. The bid is mostly automatic done by Adwords algo based on the maximum CPC and daily budget of Advertisers. Another reason why CPC falls with more ads is that you always get Ads with higher CPC at top and others follow. So, if someone clicks your bottom banner you are most likely to get lower amount than if he would have clicked your ads placed above the fold. But sometimes it is worth utilizing all ads as it gives more option to visitors as they are only gonna click if they find something they want.
I'd suggest testing it on your site then checking the eCPM, eCPM should be all your bothered about, if you get less clicks but higher CPC then you may be better off than more clicks with lower CPC... but maybe not! Test test test and take notice of your eCPM!!!
yes it is true and beleve is because more ads, makes the website look more spammy and more ads give you more exposure to non targeted ads as well as low paying ads
Bit off topic: Don't forget the user experience as well. Less ads probably means more pageviews/user AND increased chances of getting natural links from other sites/blogs. If you crowd the page with 3 large units plus link units, it's unlikely someone will link to you naturally. Back to topic: Yes, from my experience the more ads, the lower eCPM.
Less ads, more competition for the higher payings ads.. BUt you have to find the perfect balance between CTR and PPM.. your ultimate goal is have the highest eCPM..
Usually, visitors are annoyed with so many ads on your site. I guess they click more if they see your blog is not intended for adsense alone, that is, with fewer ads.
