It seems that for some unknown reason at least once every 30 to 45 days Google seems to drop my site from its search results. I've been tracking this pattern since June of 2007. The first time it happened I almost had a heart attack. I wondered what I had done wrong. It took about 2 weeks before the traffic came back. Since then when the drop occurs it lasts anywhere from 2 days to about a week. It started again yesterday. The time before that was April 2nd for a period of 3 days. Has anyone else had this problem? It's not that I've changed anything with my site. I've only added new content at a rate of a page or two per week. The frustrating part is that of course, as the traffic dips so do my earnings.
Coud be the google dance, it just happens ... I have seen it on a website for a day, when content is changed it drops out of the results. But I've never seen it happen for 2 weeks at a time.
it happens - google de-indexed about 18,000 pages from my forum and i was shocked - its going back up and it went back up 15,000 then dropped another 10,000 google is weird with this sometimes
My site rotates positions on a fairly regular basis. More so in the last week than the previous month.
"Has anyone else had this problem? I" I don't see such problem with my sites. Anyway, the good thing is that your site comes back in 3 days
I guess I shouldn't complain, but it gets to be a bit frustrating when you think you're sailing along and then, WHAM, Google pulls the rug from under you. The first time it happened I started marketing my site in other ways, but it still takes a while for those other marketing venues to kick in. In the meanwhile, I've got to undergo these fluctuations.
It's just a google thang. I was rated #3 for a very competitive keyword, and bragged about it to a potential client. They searched for it, and it was gone ... the next day it was back. The moral of the story? We are all at the mercy of the all-powerful, all-seeing, all-knowing Great Google God.
My serps for a competitive keyword dropped from 25 to 92 and other keyword went from 40th to 250. Its a 2 month old site though. I had to do some url-rewriting for creating subdomains for each user profile and serps went to rock bottom.
Serp rankings changes every day, still you need to find out the problem with your website and get maximum back links for your website...
Remember that organic rankings are how lots of people make their living. The moment that you show up on the first page, let alone the top five, you have a glowing target on your head. There are software tools that I use to scan competitors' websites and see how they got their position. Once I have that info I just do what they are doing, but better. The SEO industry is cutthroat. Get your knives ready.
Well, it seems that what ever they did, they reversed it. My traffic is coming back. It just stinks being at the mercy of the Googlemobile.
Congrats on getting your traffic back tidbits. I hope it sticks. Not sure if it's related to your issue, but there is a big thread at WMW about sites dropping and coming back during May. http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3639486.htm
I'm not quite sure what is happening. I write for Suite 101 and in their forum writers are complaining that not only are their Suite 101 articles suffering, but those who own and run websites are noticing a significant drop in traffic. Thanks for the WMW link. Interesting reading.
Today my site Sinfulmods has been on page 10, page 2, page 3 and page one in every position (1-10) all in one day... As i built up more links it dropped then went higher. Im almost to the top for good. =)
thats weird... I noticed I am getting something like 3-4 times my previous google searches in the past few days... maybe my backlinks are starting to count for something lol
