Monkey Work

I get a message a few days back.

Apparently, www.alive.com, who's HQ is in Vancouver, a couple of km away from my house, has hired me to do monkey work for $11/hour. When I say monkey work, it is monkey work. Simple word processing, etc for their new on-line Academy.

Though I feel my talent is going to waste, I do need a new laptop, and since I was planning to quietly work on my websites as well as get a girlfriend, for the first time in 6 months (I had tests every week, up the ying-yang for the past 5 months = no time for anyone/anything), I guess I'll be subtracting the girlfriend and adding a few grand into my laptop fund.

Anyone ever been hired to do monkey work?

Yeah, I used to help people learn to list on eBay, etc.. but I always charged at least $25/hr. Good thing is, you usually get called back for a 2nd or 3rd time because they can't remember everything they need to do.

'Monkey work' builds character! If you haven't done it at least once in your life then you're missing out.

The good thing is you are being paid. Self employment quite often requires a lot of monkey work without the hourly wage. Talk about character building...

:p monkey work for me would be adding several pages (hundreds) into a catalog website (it was painful ) but that job sounds cool! Just because it's a well known company, think of it as an internship where you can work near the pros but learn absolutely nothing :p
