Monitoring Campaigns and adjusting costs

I now have a number of campaigns running for a number of websites that I am running. I have noticed this month that the click through's have increased by around 10% on each campaign. I therefore decided to lower the price I am paying per click, only optimising those with high click through rates.

I suppose what I am looking for - Is - Is it usual for pricing to change month by month in this way, and therefore will I need to monitor my campaign's lowering and raising bids as necessary on a daily/weekly/monthly basis? The way I originally thought it would work was I would set up a campaign at a certain cost and leave it running indefinitely and would see a fairly steady stream of clicks, in fact it feels that I need to monitor this on a periodic basis adjusting accordingly.

Has anyone got any comments, ie do they monitor, or just leave campaign's running? If they do monitor and change pricing, how often do you do this?

Many Thanks for you advice on this.

    Mike

You have to continually monitor your AdWords account if you want it to be successful. Bids change, markets change, new players come in & out, etc, etc.
