One good way is selling advertising space on your site. It always work better if you have a "Advertise" link on your own site. There are tons of other ways like affiliates, text link ads, Google AdSense etc.
I'm well aware of that. That's not what I'm looking for though. I'm looking for somebody who can work with me on tweaking existing ads, layout etc to get the most out of a site.
