A lot of people complain about PayPal, but for me, the real screw-up seems to be MoneyBookers. I have a personal account with them but they charged me a "gateway usage fee" which is $25 a month (charged every month) and is actually a merchant account fee. I don't remember ever having used Moneybookers as a "gateway" for any payment processing. Besides, I'm not a merchant, nor do I have any Moneybookers links on my websites. It's plain ridiculous when you consider that these guys randomly deduct a fee from your account and you don't even get an email notification. I have contacted them with this problem and hope it resolves. I was just getting started with them and they pull off a stunt like this.
We encounter this problem most of the time. I just got to know from here that the fee is $25, I just see random values in my account and could not tell what the real value is, except the indication "gateway fee"
Yeah, they actually charge 19EUR or $25 per month (based on account currency) and that applies to any commercial, affiliate or business payment, even if it is less than $25. This means if you only get like $10-15 in a month, Moneybookers will still deduct $25 as gateway usage fee if the company paying you uses their so-called "gateway". Even if you get $100-200 or more in a month, losing $25 is no small change. Compared to this, Paypal is much better. At least they don't have these ridiculous, arbitrary fees. Actually, Moneybookers should have 3 separate accounts (just like Paypal does) -- one personal, one premier and one business. Instead they have only two kinds of accounts (personal and business) which tends to create some problems with the nature of fees involved.
