Moneybookers no longer accepts USA registrations?

Discussion in 'Payment Processing' started by dilluzionz, Oct 5, 2008.

I have had a Moneybookers account for quite sometime now. Have recieved and spent funds as well. I'm in the USA. Today, someone from the USA tried to sign up for an account and recieved "We are currently not accepting registrations from your country".

I just checked my account, and it's still active, with funds in it. I also used it last night to purchase a domain with no problem. Does anyone know what's going on?

My e-gold account is basically worthless until e-gold gets their legal dillema resolved, and now I'm wondering if I can't use Moneybookers anymore either?

I have PayPal, but hate to use it for selling digital items and domains, due to the chargeback issues. I've read too much here about sellers losing domains by selling via PayPal.

Is their any other safe payment processor for USA residents?

Thanks to any who can help.

Yes, because I even went and started to register, and just wasn't going to complete it since I already have an account, and when I got to the select country, and chose USA, I got the same message. I guess I'll send them an email tomorrow and find out.

I'm in the US and I signed up for a Moneybookers account about a month ago. My problem with them is that they won't let me transfer the $14 I have in my account to my bank. They try charging a fee in order to process the transfer, and then tell me that "I need a larger amount to transfer". :(

I don't know when or why they stopped taking US registrations. I sent them an email earlier so I'll see what they say. It seems I can still use the account, but I haven't tried withdrawing funds from my account either. I mostly use it as an online bank account. Receive money, spend money.

Does WebMoney allow chargebacks? That was the main reason I used Moneybookers instead of PayPal, as the chargebacks on PayPal seemes to always leave the seller high and dry.

It wasn't from an email. It was directly from their site, moneybookers.com
I am still using it no problem, it's just that it seems they are not currently allowing new registrations from the USA, as this other person had tried to register.

I'll see what they say in their email response to me. No reply so far.

OK, just got this from Moneybookers:

    "Thank you for contacting us.

Please be informed that there are no restrictions applied to your account and you can continue to use our services freely. If a fiend of yours need our assistance, please note that he/she has to contact us. We are unable to share security policy or give information to others than the account holder.

We hope you will find this information useful. If you need any other assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our service team."

So I guess it means I can still use my account, but there is no answer as to why they are not accepting new registrations from the USA. I guess a new registrant will have to contact them to find out, 'cause they're not telling me. Oh well.

Maybe they are dropping US as gambling isn't allowed there...and MB allows payments for gambling!

By dropping US money bookers will lose it significance.Because those countries where mb is supported while pp is not, then the mb users will face problems in receiving payments,as they can only receive payments through mb from mb users of USA, and thus a problem will be created among buyers and sellers.

I hope that mb should try to spread up.
