that rhymes! lol so anyway something crazy happened to me. Basically I was selling an ebook and had a money back guarantee saying that any time after 30 days you could get your money back if you weren't happy with it. So this person buys it from me, the next hour requests a refund saying I mislead him about the product (which I didn't) I made it clear that I would give him his money back according to the guidelines (after the 30 days) if he still was unhappy. He (presumably) emailed paypal and convinced them to reverse the transaction. This is such bs. I'd love to know what he said to them because it just makes no sense. This is the first request for a refund I've ever even had. Am I not allowed to use that type of money back guarantee or does paypal have some other type of guidelines or do they just do anything to cover their ass? I don't know if I want to fight it cause I'd be kinda screwed if they froze my account lol. What do they typically freeze accounts over? I'm kinda worried about this. So should I fight it and does anyone know an alternative to paypal? This is unbelievable.
I think it would just be easier to give him a refund. However, if you provide a link to your product and tell us how much he paid, we will be able to get the full picture and advise you on what you should do. Most importantly, do not get angry or arrogant with him. Email him and be very polite. Say that although he was probably mislead, it is a risk that he took in buying the ebook and that it would be unfair to all other customers who paid good money for the book when you are getting it for free. Also say that you have had many positive reviews and no other problems with your ebook, ask him what he thought was wrong and get his opinion on how to change the ebook. Say that you will rewrite the ebook and send him a copy of the revised edition and if he does not like it still, then maybe offer him a refund.
lol no Paypal has already reversed the transaction. They bought whatever bs he sold about me being misleading (which I don't get because lol the last thing I want is a bad rep and I never had anything misleading on my site and was never in contact with him) So clearly paypal must not have agreed about the misleading thing but would they have reversed it just to resolve the situation? It's such bs.
oh, I must have skipped the last bit of your post. Sorry about that. Sometimes you just have to accept what happens. Let the dirty con have his money but just focus on providing your users with quality products in the future which will prevent these situations in the future. As for an alternative to paypal, unfortunately, there is none that is as widespread as paypal at the moment. If you, for example, only use google checkout, you will have hardly any sales.
Still not sure why Paypal would give him it but whatever. I just hope they don't freeze my account over this.
Dont let it get you down there are some people out there that just like complaining and asking for refunds. Theres lots of alternative payment processors Nochex, Alertpay, Stormpay Moneybookers etc.
I would make sure you don't ever keep too much money in PayPal. They have a bad habit of just freezing accounts. Like mentioned in other PayPal related post, if you get emails from them confirming your bank account information get your money out of there.
