Hmmm well then you would not see it as unethical if a roofer came to your house climbed the ladder to your roof ...jammed his screw driver through your roof and then told you he found the source of your leaks...... You reap what you sow in life..... Hate to see what happens to you since ethics seem to matter little to you...
You probably misunderstood his statement but I want to say this because this type of thinking is too common for my old-fashioned thinking. Anti-viral drugs are never a sure-shot and are certainly not a complete cure, but they are the best hope you can offer a patient, and so doctors can charge money for it. They make money because it's a good product and deserves to make as much. As opposed to an ebook or whatever it is you may sell which exists only to exploit anxiety and suffering while only thinking of your profits first and then coming up with a shoddy product for it. Which in cases like these is just plain wrong. My message: when you place customer satisfaction and the product before your own bank balance, you may not get that ferrari any faster, but be able to sleep better and have your self-respect-something people spend their lives trying to realize once it's gone.
I think there is a clear line to be drawn here. It's fine to monetize on lifestyle related health issues e.g. weight loss products but monetizing on a pandemic which could be fatal to thousands I think is over that line.
Huh? A strange analogy. You are talking about a situation where a vendor goes to the customer who has no problem and then creates one for him. This has nothing to do with a product for those worried about swine flu and who want to prepare. Even tamiflu does not cure swine flu. It only makes the symptoms less so that you don't die from it (and also has horrendous side effects such as psychotic episodes). Why don't you believe that this can be achieved naturally instead? I would guess you haven't looked into this. I would suggest you need to do research before making a judgement. Regardless of the circumstances, conning people is bad. But helping them out is a totally different thing altogether. Are newspapers unethical for helping people find out about news on the pandemic? Are shareholders in drug companies unethical for profiting from increased demand for tamiflu and relenza? I don't mind debate. No two people ever agree on ethics. But please don't lower yourself to such personal attacks:
You wrote it .....what else would a logical person think?? The whole point of the roofer analogy is about "ethics".... not someone forcing something or another.... I never said anything cures swine flu so no I did not "research" anything related to curing the disease. Are newspapers unethical?? Well lets see, considering that 35,000+ people die from the flu each year and yet there is never so much reporting or creation of mass hysteria about such, you tell me ..... Is it ethical for newspapers to create unneeded hysteria over something that has killed a grand total of 8 people???? 35,000 vs 8....hmmmm most people should stop driving as it kills more people daily..... No I guess its not unethical...they're just trying to sell papers after all... Now if I did not get under your skin.... why are you so annoyed ??
lol, perhaps I did jump the gun . Reason being that so many people in the real world call any infoproduct a scam. So I'm a little overly-defensive I admit. There's been a similar debate over at WF, makes for interesting reading: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-in...ssion-forum/78489-ethical-work-flu-niche.html
Its cool... though I was going to ask why you hammered me for having an aff link when you have a few lol......but I saw you edited it so I didn't This whole thing reminds me of the "bird flu" hysteria or "mad cow disease" hysteria.....gone and forgotten it seems. speaking of which anyone seen any mad birds???
I was sorta hoping to get an idea of those who use trend marketing as a tool, but can see the example took on a life of its own. There is nothing wrong with capitalizing on the tremendous amount of traffic available right if you were to, say, promote a Walmart page with N95 masks. There are surely some angles that an "out-of-the-box" thinker could come up with. But writing a dubious PDF on how to avoid contagion or cure it is simply parasitic, and quite possibly dangerous, in my opinion. Don't know who said, but yes, Karma would get that guy. -
i am a pandemic doctor and i have written an ebook about how to tackle the swine flu. see my ebook at www.killswineflu.com
I am thinking of proclaiming I am an Epidemic Doctor | | | just have to watch for those Protocology Doctors!!!!!!!!!!!!! bending over near them could be a mistake....
I use "trend marketing" quite a bit in my approach. Not so much, the google trends tool but I do try to follow trends in the media. A few examples... I tivo Oprah and 60 minutes and scan through the episodes. From both of them, I've had some great campaigns. Consider the Conficker virus that was getting a lot of press a month ago. I found a couple dozen keywords and direct linked them to some malware and spyware removal tools on CB. Proved very profitable over the course of about 3 days. I also hit a jackpot last fall on a 60 minutes episode. So far, one search term and its variations has made me nearly 100 sales on 10 cent clicks. During the election, I would study the topics of the debates and know what the candidates would be talking about (they often use the same phrases over and over). I would bid on those phrases and send traffic to related products. Wind power and hybrid cars were hot. I would see massive spikes in traffic when the candidates would say those terms. One night I had 10 sales in a minute! Also, I would watch the debate live and pick out all the hot terms that could be monitized and have campaigns set up for the re-broadcast that happened right after. Just a few ways I monetize trends. I also go with my gut quite a bit. I've checked swine flu traffic and there appears to be a few trying to profit. I think guy with the ebook is out of line but I think linking to masks on wal-mart.com is a great idea. I've also seen people trying to monetize the traffic with the insurance niche. Scotty
I use trend marketing for my SEO not PPC.. if you do a search on G for Swine Flu related KW's you will see very little competition when using the AiT parameters.. making it very easy to rank on page on multiple times.. However as for monetising it.. I think the best way is with an aff prog for drug.com etc.. pimping Tamiflu.. BTW: Does anyone realise the company that manufactures Tamiflu is part owned by Donald Rumsfield.. and in Dec 08 during the eco crisis they predicted a revenue rise of 531%.. sounds odd unless they knew something beforehand.. BUT back to the original post.. I dont think it wrong to cash in on trend marketing.. just dont peddle worthless crap and keep some integrity with your product.
