    How can you monetize different software you create? For example, If I created a program that I was going to give away for free, how can I still make money off it? I understand that you can get paid to attach certain programs to different installs. What are some of the affiliates that do that, and how much do they pay? And are there any other ways to monetize it.

    You can offer a trial, use luxecash to make money from PPI
    networks for example you can combine your software with
    the file that the network gives you and earn money per each
    installation.

    Another possibility is to have an ad on your software that
    relates to the product with your affiliate code embedded in
    it.

    if you want to open your source, adsense and other cpc are useful. I see there are many software developers do this:
    Share software free.
    Donation.
    Make a forum so that you create a community for developers and users come and discuss there. Of course why not add ads there in that forum.
    Finding a sponsor.

    Give away your software but have it link to a web site where you can update offers. Use the data on that site to scroll offers randomly or sequentially to those who use your software. Yahoo IM does this. They place ads at the bottom for users to click. Then they give Yahoo IM away for free.
