Monetizing a "Not Safe for Work" Site

I run a small forum, at www.fuckingnastyshit.com It's dedicated to discussion and posting of the most disgusting media available on the internet. As such, it includes photos and videos of gore, death, BME, nasty porn, and animal cruelty, to name a few.

    It is an advertsing nightmare.

But I get tons of traffic already, and with luck it should explode soon. So, what's the best way of going about monetizing this site? I'm currently tryinf out Adult Friend Finder and it's partners, as well as a few other porn sites. But I don't want to just strictly advertise porn. I want to branch out, but I'm just not finding anything that allows this type of site.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience in this area?

    Thanks in advance.

I just saw a cat being burned alive in a bird cage. That's horrible. I'd be surprised if you found many advertisers willing to put their ads on a site with content like that.

I dont need to see nasty shit to know it happens, your promoting it by making a site about it and giving it an audience, I'd take the site down, it is full of sick shit that doesn't need a home, you'll only get porn advertisers.

"Take your site down" doesn't really help me answer the original question. I have this site, I very obviously don't want to take it down. Just because you don't want to see it doesn't mean there's not an audience for it.

If all you're going to do is troll, then why post at all? I very obviously started this thread for help with advertising and such, not to be told I should take my site down.

    Thanks.

That site is about as wrong as wrong gets. No advertiser outside of porn should touch you.

But then again - fugly.com had a good thing going for a while. T-Shirt sales, only allowing unpaid members access to videos on fridays, and they had a ton of link partners who dealt in the same arena. Maybe doing your own CPM advertising and waiting for people who visit your site to bite on it. Give a few free spots away to vendors that you think are cool or who have cool items and see if their competition shows up - off the top of my head, you might be able to bring in head shops, artists, off-the-beaten path t-shirt providers, maybe microbeweries, etc.

If i were you, I'd want at least 10 advertisers in rotation so people would pay more attention to the banners. Your clicks-per-visitor could end up pretty high if the vendors really hit the target market. Hit up some local vendors to you who sell things to the 18-24 crowd and are not likely to be picky about cheap advertising. If you end up opening up the online world to one of them and work on a commission basis, you might end up with a solid partner down the road. Or maybe throw up ads for free for a pimp-n-ho ball or club naked or something like that and track the click throughs - then talk them into advertising for future parties.

Thanks for some really solid suggestions here. I'm definitely going to try a few of these things out.

If i were to do something like this, what would you suggest using in order to track impressions and clicks and such?

I've also recently started with AVN Ads. They manage an the sale of the ads,and they'll even set up a PPC campaign. Plus they advertise adult sites too, so they allow their ad code to be used on even NSFW sites.

Anyone have any good/bad experience with them?

Perhaps AdBrite? Advertisers there only seem to care about traffic I think.

Looks like alot of your content is taken from Stileproject.com. They might have a problem with you having their content - especially if you are making money off it.

There are ton of those Bum Fights-like vendors that will gladly advertise on your site. That is, if it gets enough traffic. You don't even have 100 members, so I doubt if anyone will pay to advertise. My suggestion would be to wait until you site gains more traffic. People always make the mistake of wanting money right now, instead of building the site up first. Your site isn't an instant money maker; you need to build it up through traffic and whatnot first. And THEN people will be knocking down your doors to advertise. There's plenty of would-be advertisers for even your niche.
