I have a new movie related website, mainly based around showing the user trailers & reviews of new movies. I want to get the site more popular before I start putting any sort of advertisements on it, I'm mainly working on getting loads of content on it first. My question is, when I do come to monetize it, what is the best way to do it on a movie related site? PPC? CPM? I initially thought some sort of amazon affiliate links to other movies might be good but I've read that it's hard to make much money from amazon. I also have an account with commission junction but there isn't a lot there that I think my users might like (apart from the movie rental sites which could be quite a good match but I am unsure how popular they are).
JMZ - Being that it is a movie site, most users are going to be click happy. I would start out with monetizing through advertising that pays out on a per click basis. In the end- TEST, TEST, TEST! Good Luck... -=Chipmunk=-
yes, I agree with chipmunk, go for CPC. If you can get a CPM on the page too then thats just extra. Affiliate marketing can bring in some good $$ for you to if you get related or relevant offers. Talk with your affiliate manager.
Check out Satellite to Tv or Pc products being sold on clickbank. Supposedly those are converting well for many people.
CPALead works well but you wont get many returning visitors. Or people linking to you as much as you would expect with a small cpc banner along the top or similar.
