Monetize Directory, and SEO

    How are directories monetized, are all the links affiliate links - if they aren't is it possible to make a directory with all the links being monetized to affiliate pages.

    Excuse me if my terms are off or not clear, just getting started.

    Also, how does a directory get Search Engine Optimized if it has no bodies of text or content - do links count as content?

    I don't understand what you mean when you are referring to a "Directory?" Are you trying to set up a directory on your website full of Affiliate links, and then promoting that?

    Yeah some kind of web directory, not necessarily like this site, this is just example. (site below)

    And maybe focused on a single or a string of niches.

    There are a lot of ways of monetizing a web directory such as featured listing ,selling banner space ,creating an affiliate program, setting up PPC advertising and selling newly created directories
