I feel for you - am in the same boat - For the last 4 months I was making about 8 bucks a day with adsense on www.playgamesonlinenow.com and in August it has hit the skids - now only averaging 2-3 dollars a day... It's very frustrating - You would think they would throw us bone just for having to use so much bandwidth for these sites :)

having the same trouble here, the google click rate is so low for gaming website ads.. I think the best way is just to increase your traffic, because after hitting digg front page made about $30 in a day, so it may be possible to get it to a steady $10 a day without hitting front page. New games, incentive to return, nice design, contests... all ways to build traffic

I would recommend getting rid of contextual ads because they are worthless for sites like these. I'd seem to think that static banner ads or anything to that nature would be more profitable - or affiliate programs.

I really doubt affiliate programs will work, my visitors are just trying to waste their time IMO, not fill forms and purchase things i think.

CPM is the way to go for such sites.
with this kind of traffic i am sure you can sell some sitewide links as well.

i just spent a 100$ to start a new arcade site. and this thread is killing me.
2$ for 3k visitors is bad.

i am sure there is a way around this.
    try pop unders as well.

Sanzo, BTW that is a very well designed site (was it designed by you ?)
Maybe the visitors like it so much that they don't want to leave ?!!

Anyway I am runnning in the same boat, and I am looking for ways to get rid of the cheap clicks with competitive filtering (because there are some $.40-$.70 clicks that I get some times, I was looking at adsblacklist.com but its not very helpful in my opinion ... maybe we should start sharing tips on the cheap advertisers ?

I saw on a website that is offering free stuff that ad adbrite ads with some pictures next to it. I guess adbrite dont have the same TOS as adsense does and allows you to do that, and this will improve the click thrus. And also try to put the ads inside your page (in the middle), this way people will see them more.

The design is very nice. Did you design it yourself?
I face a similar problem with ValueClick Media. I see arcade sites generating less traffic than mine but yet they make much more than me via VCM. Just don't get it.

I think adbrite even has an option so it shows the images itself.

And about the design, I didn't design it, but I coded it. I'm sure the design helps if you want returning visitors.
Anyway, the design is sold, and soon there'll be a new one and it will look even better!

A half to one percent of visitors click on ads.

    Do the math.

    Done?

    There's your answer.

Increase your traffic if you want to make more money.

Every day, new start-ups are offering great opportunities for you to monetize your site(s). Do a daily search on this forum and you'll find some.

I'll be utterly shameless and invite you to check mine. See the sig-link?
