Monetising A Directory

    This may look crazy or childish Question. but I would like to know what are the ways to monetize directories ?? other than featured/Sponsored listing

    Well I have tried adsense and adbrite on them but they don't help. The only other way was to sell partner links for 6 months basis and banners on the directory.

    I have seen some directories that are FULL of adsense. Maybe hyper has found some good results with them.

    l sell links on the front page this brings in good income
    also sell a banner in your header, also make sure normal
    links are paid recp links can be free

    The same way you'd monetise any site. Get good quality traffic and make it convert into clicks, sales, affiliate sales...

    Newsletter ads were popular before - early 2007 when directories were very popular...
    I dont think you will get newsletter advertisers now
