Hello, A google representative answered one of my emails, which was regarding to why there are no google ads showing up for certain pages on my site. He replied that it is due to the customized width / height. Example of my code segment I modified on a 234x60 ad: google_ad_width = 230; google_ad_height = 48; HTML: Would changing these values effect anything, eCPM ? Impressions ? Clicks? I'd like to know if anyone else had a similar issue. Thank You
You are not supposed to modify the adsense code. You can only use the sizes they give you to use. Best go to google only sizing or you may one day get a ban email for messing with their code.
Many things are possible, if you don't let them catch you I've heard of a guy who was banned by doing this (someone have reported him, I suppose). And he told on one forum, that changing the ad size didn't affect his CTR at all, lol.
Hello, First I want to thank everyone for their replies. I changed all my google ads back to the Google size standards. I have a follow up question. My initial problem was that my CPM is extremely low. By Google TOS, I'm not allowed to say it. I get around 4000 uniques on my 2 sites MuchGames.com and Arcadum.com, but with an average of 100+ Google clicks a day, I make very little profit. How could I improve this? Thank You, Armin
First off let's start with the arrows pointing to the ads -this is a TOS violation You will want to remove that right away. Much games: Next there is just TOO much stuff on the page to draw away from the ads. Remove evrything that does not need to be there. Moving your skyscraper above your navigation menus(or below the newest games menu) will increase clicks. A banner in between the search box and the content(in the center) will also do the same. On arcadum- 1. That top banner(in the green) is hardly noticable. 2. Remove the arrows here too 3. the pictures really draw attention to me using it perhaps after the 1st or 2nd row of pics you stick a banner there(remember you can not have more than 3 ad units per page so you will have to move it around and check the outcome) 4. Right side top could have a nice skyscraper there and help alot EDIT: oh and if the guest does not have to scroll to see the ad--these are best. Sometimes the LOOK of a website is more important than making money so it is up to you deside whay you want to do
Thanks for the reply. You gave me some interesting ideas regarding my ad placement. I like the idea of putting banners in between the rows of the pictures. I think I might just do that and see how it goes. However I want to keep my site pleasant to the visitors and keep them entertain rather than throwing in all bunch of ads they might not wish to see. Regarding what you said about the arrows. I thought that its ok to use pictures next to your google ads, as I have seen many sites use this method to increase their CTR and CPM. Arrows are just pictures to me. Armin
