I changed user interface of my blog. Is it better than previous layout? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Lol, i cant remember previous. But, here is what i noticed on this one, maybe could help: change style of menu text on left - i think it would be much better and easier to read if text is not underlined. Translate to... - move to right or on bottom of page. When people come to page they want to read article, not info on tranlsation possibilities, which come first.
I'm pretty new to this but having that big block of ads right there in the middle is something I've never seen before. I want to see some content there as a user with those ads perhaps just below the firsrt blog entry. I don't think I should have to scroll down to see the first entry.
Also do you need need the calendar there on the right? Every bit of space "above the fold" is of the essence and you don't want to have superfluous navigation there. Whats the best way for your users to navigate your archives? Pick a way and stick to just that one.
As regards the ad link, i am getting good results so for now i will keep it as it is, but i will keep you suggestion in mind. As regards calendar, well it is standard in wordpress blogs so why remove it? As for the header, yes i would like to make a graphic display but i am not good in graphics. will have to look at some photoshop tutorials. Thanks for all suggestions.
hey infonote, I quite like the header - the style of the adsense ads is totally out of synch with it though - the header looks well designed while the ads look pretty ugly. i know that can work well sometimes, its just a little jarring. I agree with blora about the calendar. i'd also say the same about the google search (this is also breaking out of the column in firefox). i'd suggest moving them both downwards on the page. then you could put the google ads horizontally which would bring all the content up on the page as well. I think that way everything would fit together better visually and you would have more content immediately visible to the reader. Of course, I guess one of the problems with adsense is that you end up sometimes just wanting people to click out through your ads so you get the revenue. and everything else takes second place. good luck, thomas
No the aim is the content, my idea as a blog came as a sort of backup for my notes. as regards calendar, i will remove it. I will change the ad of adsense and make a banner instead of a square.
