I just got an infraction for posting a very popular thread about PageRank into the Google category, read the post yourselves:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=12117302#post12117302

It's entirely about Google's PageRank algorithm and nothing to do with search engine optimisation, so why have I been given an infraction?

Do any of you think the moderator is right?

An infraction for that is definitely not deserved IMHO.

I'm guessing the moderator in question may review it.

I can see the argument both ways. Probably better to tackle this via private message though, don't you think?

You shouldn't open a thread right away.
PM a mod who is online first.

If you don't get a reply after a day,
open a thread in the "suggestions" forums and not in GC or any other place.

In that thread, you must write to the moderators. Not a petition to the rest of forum members :lol

The Google forum description clearly states that discussions about sites' pageranks and why they rank where they do (which could fall under both pagerank and SERPS) do not belong in the Google forum. You may not have been talking about your own site, but you were having a discussion about the pagerank of particular sites. On top of that, they're specifically SEO sites. So yes, you posted in the wrong area, and it was moved to the most relevant one - the SEO forum.

In the future, PM a moderator if you have questions about infractions. Posting to complain about them can get you another one.
