mod_rewrite experts . help appreciated

    Hi . i have a music site that have genre / Artist / album then songs listed on this page but the url is sooo not SEO .

    it gives url like /index.php?jz_path=Pop%2FAvril+Lavigne%2FGirlfriend&ext.html

    is there anyway to make it /Pop/Avril Lavigne/Girlfriend ?

    help will be appreciated and will do favors to him in scripts or programs he need .

    you'll need php script also to make it SEF Url
    try search first on the forum or google :)

    Yes, you can do that using mod_rewrite fairly easily. However, you will need to change the URLs generated by the script to the new ones.

    but can i make it just to be viewed like /Pop/Avril Lavigne/Girlfriend ? without the changing in real urls ? like provide to the visitor both urls and he can access it both both what he sees the edited on ? don't know much about this but all what i want is google to rank me better with this small SEO .

    You can make it '/Pop/Avril Lavigne/Girlfriend' without changing the location of your scripts. However, you need to change your scripts to use the new URLs instead of the old ones.

    So what the rewrite rule would do is rewrite /Pop/Avril+Lavigne/Girlfriend to /index.php?jz_path=Pop%2FAvril+Lavigne%2FGirlfriend&ext.html. For this part, you dont need to change your scripts at all, just edit your .htaccess. However, your scripts (generated HTML) will still point users to the old style URLs, so you will need to change that appropriately.
